The castle is incredible, however the hand carved stone granaries located below the castle are a more compelling attraction. Clusted in a field, these granite structures, dozens of them, resemble small tombs. Elevated to keep out rats & chickens, many are still in use.
with vistas in every direction. Advise that you purchase the combined castle and museum ticket. The castle is very well preserved with beautiful adjoining gardens. You can wall the rampart walls, and as is typical, no railings so mind your step.
We were really impressed with the fact that it has maitenance and it is in a good conservation state. You can even go downstairs to see the cistern that in case of need would provide water for 6 months.
