This Roman arch is located very close to the Temple of Diana, and if you walk to the temple from Giraldo Square, you will come across it. There is no information on its history that I could see and, sadly, basically it just presents a photo opportunity.

Ever is a city that you can and should spend hours wandering thru, no need for a car.
By is moly exploring you can come across many things including vast examples of the Roman's time there. The Arch is one of this places that is quite impressive and worth your time to stop and visit.

We stopped here for a break while driving from Lisbon to Madrid. Lots of interesting sights to see while exploring the town on foot.

We were lucky enough to visit a Evora on a public holiday & were able to drive through the city . The Roman Arch by Dona Isabel is very interesting & definitely worth finding in this medieval wall city . The arch is approximately 5metres high & 4 metres wide built in granite stonework in the late 2nd century AD & was originally the main gate into the Roman wall city .

I loved the historical architecture of Evora and we saw a lot of it, as we walked around the city for hours. It was treat to walk through this arch and it made the day feel more special.

One of several Roman arches in town, worth a photo and a look. You will pass it by quickly. Roman ruins are an important part of Evora.

OK, old stuff is everywhere in Evora. This little gem is a still standing portion of the Roman Wall-E as Ilya missed with so many segments of the subsequent medieval wall and their cemented arches. Roman arches did not rely on mortar or cement but the keystone. Knowing this makes the smallest of this gate (and comparison to the other adjacent arches) worth the stop.

Arco Romano de Dona Isabel em Évora
This arch is not an eye catcher, but anyhow recognised as a touristic monument you will find on the “Rua de Dona Isabel”.
This “Roman Arch of Dona Isabel” is corresponding as one of the entrance gates of the formal “Roman city of Evora”, and doing so it has being classified as “National Monument” and is integrated in the Patrimonial zone of the UNESCO.
Nothing special but has to be seen, and from here it is only a few hundred meters to visit the temple and garden of Diana, and the library and the Museum.
