The university was highlighted as one of the main sights to visit in Evora and it did not disappoint. It's a short walk away from the town centre and provided some much needed shade to escape the heat. The university is one of the oldest...More

If you come here on the heels of Coimbra, you will likely be disappointed. But it is a fine old institution of higher learning with students in traditional black cloaks and lovely tiled lecture halls and classrooms.

This centuries-old university features amazing tiled classrooms and a beautiful vaulted library. Totally worth the walk and few euros!

A very pleasent surprise, beautiful old building with a rare gem of ancient classrooms. Go before 4pm to catch the library.

The tiles in each room relate to the subject matter taught in the room. It is well worth the visit but you must go in the classrooms. There is also a good photo exhibit with before and after photos of Evora.

The university used to be free for visitors, but now they charge 3 Euros. Still it is worth a stroll to see the blue tiles throughout the halls and rooms. If you eat at the cafeteria, you can avoid the admission price.
