a very interesting inner architecture, it is an hexagonal interior and all the interior walls covered with beautiful colorful tiles, it is next to the Pelourinho and the entrance is free so go in and add another highlight to the visit to Elvas.

We came across this lovely church as we walked through Elvas after walking around the fortifications. Although it was quite small, the chapel was beautifully decorated, and it was a calming place to rest

The convent is small and charming. The tiles are very beautiful and amazing. Be sure to check when it is open so that you can fit it in during your visit to Elvas.

this quaint church decorated in tiles may well have seen better days but to me that just adds to it's charm and if you don't mind climbing up some stairs to a small viewing platform that felt very private to me you'll be rewarded with some fine views.

This church is not as well-kept and preserved as many others in Portugal. It just seems old and tired. Nevertheless, the views from the tower are very pretty and worth the climb to see. A very friendly docent gave us lots of information about the church. If you are already in Elvas, go see it. i wouldn't make an extra trip just to see it.

This tiny chapel, with the internal octagonal walls covered in beautiful tile work, offers you an option to climb to its top, where you'll have nice views from citadel. Very nice!

This octagonal church used to be part of a Dominican convent. It's structure is typical of Templar architecture (like the church in Tomar).

The walls are covered in beautiful 17th century tiles.

You can climb around 50 steps to reach a viewpoint offering magnificent views of the city and its surroundings - for me, even better than the views from the castle.

This was the chapel of the female order of Dominicas, it was constructed 1543-1557. It is octagonal and covered in tiles dating from 1669 and the gold relief worthy is noteworthy. The associated convent was closed in 1834 when religious orders were abolished and the last nun died there in1870. In the early 20thC the convent was demolished, leaving just this little chapel to visit. It is worth popping into as part of a tour round the town.
