Beja's Castle is an amazing castle having influences from different architectonic styles such as Romanesque, Gothic, Manueline (Portuguese late Gothic), Mannerism. The walls are well preserved and also the Tower. The Castle's Tower built in the Gothic style is the highest tower in all Portuguese castles, with 3 stores and 40 meters high. From there it's possible to have amazing... More

Loved this place. It has clearly been rebuilt with some added embellishments. but that means there is more to enjoy. Sure, a pile of stones may be more authentic but here you can walk right around, climb to the very top of the tower and enjoy some of the most far-reaching and wonderful views of the region. Any invading army,... More

You can climb the tower to get wonderful views of the town and surrounding countryside. You can walk around the ramparts which are well conserved. Nothing remains within the castle itself but it is still worth a visit. Entry is free of charge

So cool and didn't kill me getting to the top. What a view! Love that we decided to stay in this little town for a pampering evening.

Probably the most must do in Beja, well worth visiting but not for the infirm or feint hearted. Great views , steep steps and no guard rails around the battlements. Very picturesque.

It is free, it is clean (like the rest of the city). It is one of the must things you should do if you come to Beja. It is charming as most of the Portuguese castles.

The castle is well maintained and gives excellent views of the town and surrounding countryside if you are able to climb the 200 steps of the tower.

Beautiful old 12-13th C castle built upon old roman fortress. Seemed like the layout of most children's toy castles. Great views on tower and rampart. Walk with caution. Fall off you will die. I wouldn't let children run up unattended. The tower has great views back into castle and town
