Thumboormuzhi has almost everything to spice up your holidays - the dam, a butterfly garden, hanging bridge, and children's park. This natural habitat of the butterflies is believed to consist of almost all the species of butterflies in the world. If you are looking for time away from the noisy and monotonous schedule of yours to rest in the midst of greenery with serene surroundings, then Thumboormuzhi is the place for you.

The Thumboormuzhi Dam and Garden lie in the Chalakudy river surrounded by forest and is one of the most sought after tourist spot in Thrissur district. The butterfly garden, children's play area, the hanging bridge etc... there are entertainment opportunities for people of all ages. The butterfly garden has almost 150 species of butterflies and is a treat to our eyes. The hanging bridge is awesome, it's a rare one and worth watching. A visit to Thumboormuzhi garden is really memorable because of the marvelous view of the dam, hanging bridge, children's park, forest and the river. The District Tourism Promotion Council has provided parking spaces, wash rooms etc in the are and they are maintaining it properly.

Thumkoormuzhi garden and prakruthy gramam are situated the opposite sides of the lake. It is linked with a hanging bridge .
Hanging bridge is a rare experience. Both are good parks. There are snack centres. Lot of monkeys are there. You can spend with water and rocks. Children's play area also good.
Very good to spend with family and Friends there at two parks for 3 to 4 hours.
There are separate entry fee for two parks
If you travel by a car from Angamali (karayamparampu) to prakruthi gramam you can enjoy 🌴 palm trees plantations.

We left Walton’s homestay at 0900 on 30th October , 2017 for Athirpally waterfalls on the Chalakudy river via NH544 passing Chalakudy . But just 8 km before the falls and at around 1045 I noticed an attractive sign board of Thumboormuzhi gardens on my left . So we got down from the car and what was a pleasant surprise . There were two main attractions here . One 185 long hanging bridge joining two tiny villages of Thumboormuzhi and Ezhattumugam . We enjoyed a breathtaking view of Athirpally waterfalls , dense forest and rapids below the bridge while swaying on it .
Another eye catching attractions was the butterfly Garden . We were told that about 184 species of butterflies fluttered over numerous beautiful and fragrant flowers there .
Another minor attraction was a check dam .

Now with the hanging bridge across the river, it will be a nice time to spend few hours with your kids on the way back from magnificent Athirappilly/Vazhacahl/Charpa falls, especially during monsoon. Don't hesitate to pay for the other side of bridge (Ezhattumugham) and a walk down to the rocky river, if permitted.

Very nice scenic garden and the view. But river seems very rough this time because of the heavy monsoon and landslides somewhere nearby. So taking closer selfies and climbing the hanging bridge are prohibited but i am sure it is for our safety...

Hello,
We are travelling in the month of May this year around May 12th with 2 kids of age 8 and 13. Will the falls have enough water during this time of month also. What else can we do around? Is it ok to stay in chalakudy for a day. Pl. advice.

During that time summer will be at its peak, so u cannot expect much water in the falls. Regarding stay, there are options near athirapally falls also away from chalakudi so that u can have a more natural setting. That route towards athitapally, vazhachal, valparai, parambikulam is an excellent route, probably through that riute towards coimbatore u can plan ur return trip to bangalore. There are buses also from chalakudy in this route if you are not comfortable in driving this forest ghat route....
