The outside of the building is stunning in daylight and when lit in the evening. The inside is equally picturesque and when you remember that the whole building was completely destroyed during WW1 and rebuilt after the war it takes on another dimension. They were preparing for the Remembrance Day concert when we visited, so some of the Cathedral was... More

Huge cathedral, rebuilt after World War 1. Beautiful stained glass windows. Plenty to look at as you walk round. Very close to Menin Gate and In Flanders Field Museum. Worth a visit.

We visited Ypres for the day. It is an absolutely beautiful place, stunning buildings, fantastic eateries etc ,etc. The Cathedral is one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen. Lots of history inside and lovely artifacts.

When you visit this Cathedral you don't realise that it was burnt to the ground in The Great War and rebuilt. Very nice inside with lots to see - old and new. There are a lot of old artifacts from the time before the fires plus a few new additions. A peaceful place.

You look inside and wonder where did all the old artifacts come from as this Cathedral was blasted to pieces during WW1 did the local people take the statues away? It was an extremely hot day and it was so nice to come inside for the cool and just sit for a while.

This is a local church, in regular use. It has a long history, and there was plenty of information up. Unfortunately it was in Dutch, usually there is a French and English version.

Unfortunately we arrived too late and the Cathedral was closed but just walking around the structure itself and seeing the old walls left after the fire was incredible. Sure wished we could have gone inside. if you like cathedrals this would be one of the ones to see!

Difficult to reconcile photos of the ruins of 1918 with the beautiful building which stands there now. Big memorial to the King of the Belgians who was commander in chief of several British regiments. The rose window is in his memory.
