We stumbled on this gem whilst looking for somewhere to Eat. Thoroughly Enjoyed our time looking around. we have an English guide book so we understood everything and had the entire ship to ourselves to wander at our own pace taking everything in properly!!

Definitely something you should visit when in Oostende, I went on a windy day just to get out of the wind but I am glad I did. Some very interesting exhibitions.

I visitesd this ship when I was a child and had beautiful memories of it. Now, 35 years later, my opinion remains equal. A beautiful Lady being taken care of very well. A must visit for all, young and old.

This was a great experience. From the engine room to the crew's quarters and not forgetting the cramped confines of the crew and the radio operators etc. Very enjoyable for English speakers when given a free English visitors guide.

nice experience. You get a good impression how life on board was. Great job they did with the complete restoration of this famous ship. Takes about half an hour to visit.

The huge ship is docked 10 minutes walk away from the railway station. It's impressive both on the outside and the inside. The ship is well preserved with all its accessories, furniture and original look and feel. Wouldn't surprise me if they took it out...More

The Mercator is considered the crown jewel of Ostend and it has a central place in the yacht docks. You can read more about the history of this ship with a Google search. Most famously it carried the remains of Father Damien back to Belgium....More
