Really impressive church from the outside, but totally unexpected what is inside. Its a very modern interior to the church with a nice central water feature, a few interactive exhibits around the edge of the room, and then a giant swing in the centre of...More

The church is large and impressive on the outside. Inside is unexpected. The highlight is a bright almost glowing blue statue of Mary draped in white, with a bright blue bowl on her head. The statue is sitting in a pool of water. Near the...More

Stunning Catholic Church with beautiful paintings, stained-glass windows and Mass on Sundays. Happened to be walking past and found this beautiful Cathedral. Outside it looks drab, but inside it is a feast for the eyes.

Seeing St Magdalen’s Church (‘Heilige Magdalenakerk’ in Dutch) from afar while walking in Queen Astrid park (‘Koningin Astridpark’, reviewed elsewhere) we couldn’t resist the urge to have a closer look. The church was built in Gothic Revival Style (1850-1853) by local architect Pierre Buyck, with...More

We’re regular churchgoers, and my partner works in the church back home, so we’re not new to the religious scene, but this place blew our minds a little bit. I found myself in a massive and an otherwise empty church, listening to some quiet choral...More

From the outside, the church looks like any other Gothic church. It is the inside that surprises. I had never seen a church with a swimming pool before, but it does not detract from the peaceful atmosphere. Decommissioned as a Catholic Church, it has become...More

We happened upon this place by accident and after touring churches all over Europe, we were happy to see one that was more than pews and stained glass. The swing was fun and exhilarating.

Was walking past and decided to take a look but I wasn't all that impressed. I just read other reviews and I am certainly in the minority ~ did not even step in far enough to see the pool ~ perhaps if I had, I...More

From the outside, it looks like a normal church. Right before the entrance door is a statue of St. Magdalene with child. However, I never would have expected when entering the church, to find out a swimming pool. A swimming pool? The water looked warm...More

This church was quite big. It doesn't appear to be used for service anymore. I was on a tour and only spent a few minutes looking around. Wish I had a few more. It was very nice and the architecture was interesting.
