Bruges' City Hall (1376) is one of the oldest in the Low Countries. It is from here that the city has been governed for more than 600 years. An absolute masterpiece is the Gothic Hall, with its late 19th-century murals and polychrome vault. The adjoining historic hall calls up the city council's history with a number of authentic documents and works of art. A multimedia exhibition on the ground floor illustrates the evolution of the Burg Square.

The main hall is tremendous, architecturally, visually and in its magnificence. It is well worth the stairs! We did not see a lift btw.

I'm always amazed by old architecture and especially if it appears to defy gravity and Stadhuis meets this criteria. The outside of the building is very details and this continues through to the inside. Make sure you sit down and spend some time looking up...More

Few seconds walk from the Basilica of the holy blood on burg square so worth doing a combined visit. As a stand alone attraction, I wouldn't travel too far to see it.

Stunning building well worth a visit. Very interesting and unlike a lot of Bruges not over priced either. Gothic room is well worth a walk around and use one of the printed guides to help explain the paintings.

This museum is located in two separate sections (with two separate entrances) of a 14th century courthouse and city hall. The halls are stunningly decorated and the audio tour gives a great introduction to the history and art. The enormous wood-carved fireplace mantle was most...More
