Bruges' City Hall (1376) is one of the oldest in the Low Countries. It is from here that the city has been governed for more than 600 years. An absolute masterpiece is the Gothic Hall, with its late 19th-century murals and polychrome vault. The adjoining historic hall calls up the city council's history with a number of authentic documents and works of art. A multimedia exhibition on the ground floor illustrates the evolution of the Burg Square.

There isn't a lot here, still it is worth a few minutes of your time even on the busiest schedule to pop in and admire the wonderfully carved wooden ceiling and to see the old maps and paintings that show how little Bruges has changed since the 15th century.

Slightly disappointing. Only one main room to see and ththe other building is not clearly marked for visitors. The building is beautiful from the outside with little to see inside.

For the price of €4 per adult, this is well worth a visit. This City Hall is one of the oldest in the country. The building has a lovely exterior where there are a number of statues on the facade. However, the Hall is magnificent with its murals, statues and golden ceiling. The murals show important events in the history... More

Excellent exhibit which takes approximately 25 minutes to visit. Your entry fee here also gains access to the Vrije which is worth the fee.

The guide book was right when it said the interior would not let you down following the dramatic exterior. Fabulous space. 4 euros per adult, nice place to sit and contemplate.

We visited on a Saturday morning during a 4 day visit. As it was just after opening hours started we were the only ones in there and were able to appreciate the building in peace and quiet. It's well worth a visit, the architecture is truly stunning. The leaflets give a lot of information about what the murals show, offering... More

This an interesting museum. Go for the sake of the building and for the superb 19th century mural paintings depicting historic events. I found it to be well worth a visit.
