Bruges' City Hall (1376) is one of the oldest in the Low Countries. It is from here that the city has been governed for more than 600 years. An absolute masterpiece is the Gothic Hall, with its late 19th-century murals and polychrome vault. The adjoining historic hall calls up the city council's history with a number of authentic documents and works of art. A multimedia exhibition on the ground floor illustrates the evolution of the Burg Square.

Well worth a visit for the paintings decorating the wall of the main meeting chamber. I would recommend you do as part of the 20 Euro museum pass as it doesn’t take long to see.

Helpful staff here pointed out the best way to see the sights we'd planned over 2 days using the Museum pass for €20 per person. We'd recouped our cost in 3 sights, one of which was this city hall. Only 2 rooms are open to...More

This was more interesting than we thought it was going to be. The information provided told you all about it, and there was a small museum attached. There is a quite astonishing fireplace in one of the rooms.

Another easy to visit historic building that's included in the museum pass. As remarkable as the building is on the outside, the inside is even more breathtaking. I think it's a municipal building of some sort, but the upstairs is a museum. The artwork is...More

The main hall is tremendous, architecturally, visually and in its magnificence. It is well worth the stairs! We did not see a lift btw.

I'm always amazed by old architecture and especially if it appears to defy gravity and Stadhuis meets this criteria. The outside of the building is very details and this continues through to the inside. Make sure you sit down and spend some time looking up...More
