The historic center of Bruges has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000 thanks to its status as one of the commercial and cultural capitals of Europe and its enduring Gothic architecture. The Belgian city center is cited as a great example of a medieval historic settlement, even while it has evolved over the years.

Christmas Market

Just returned from a lovely weekend at the Christmas Market. The Historic Centre is stunning and there is so much to take in. The Chocolate Shop window displays are beautiful.

We have stayed in Bruges countless times over the last 16 years, the last time was in November 2016. This mediaeval city has a unique charm but suffers in parts more and more from day trip tour bus parties. But it is possible to walk a few hundred metres from the busiest tourist traps and find yourself almost alone. Lace... More

Buildings are stunning wherever you walk around the city. Just walk to soak up the atmosphere or take the carriage ride, the canal boat tip and the bus tour all of which build on the interesting facts about the city. This is a very lively square in the heart of Brugge. The horse drawn carriage rides start from here. There are museums on the square and many restaurants. It is a great place to people watch.

When you are walking around in Bruges you might have the chance to meet Curt Ceunen, he is born and raised in Bruges and has travelled the world in search of inspiration for his music. Hang / Didgeridoo and Medieval bagpipes are amongst his repertoire. Composing his own music and playing intimate concerts , festivals but also as a busker... More

Bruges is gorgeous - lovely historic buildings, canals, and a big traditional market. Although it is a bit touristy it's still possible to get away from the crowds. We had a fabulous few days there and will be back.
