Vesten is 26 hectares of green and leisure area that makes up a large part of the green lung of Bruges along with the Minnewater Park and Koning King Albert I Park in the southern end of the city. It stretches east and west quite some distance along the canal providing large tract of park for walkers and cyclers.

There are some interesting attractions to see along Vesten including the 4 medieval city gates, the historic Gunpowder Tower (Poertoren), Lovers Bridge and other canal crossings. It is a lovely place to stretch your legs and get a bit of morning exercise in if you've been eating too many chocolates during your time in Bruges.

The "Brugse Vesten" is kind of green belt around the historical centre of Bruges. Its a nice place to have a walk or go for jogging. On your way you will find the 4 remaining windmills and also pass the city gates. Theres a modern bridge too that gives entry to the harbour for the small boats. Its around 8 km long and definatly worth a visit. See Bruges in another way, more green way..
