It is when you step inside that the building really makes its impact - the way that light flooded in from the grey skies outside was surprising and made the polychromatic paintings stand out strongly against the plain walls. Another highlight was the enormous (presumably) baroque pulpit. This is not a style I warm to, but this an astonishing example... More

The treasury of the Saint-Peter in Leuven is pretty nice. The emphasis is less on the silverware, more on paintings, compared to most treasuries I've seen. There are relic holders and monstrances. But to me the highlights are paintings of the holy Dorothea being tortured and decapitated, John the Baptist being decapitated (yes, it's quite violent), and another martyr, I... More

We stopped in to look exploring the town. Would have liked to see a service. Beautifully restored. Work still underway.

Bears the the evidence of Leuvens eventful history and is still being restored. It does not have the stand alone magnificence of some great french Cathedrals but there is a wealth of detail and its well worth a visit

This church is easy to spot as it is in the middle if a busy street. The struture is beautiful and efforts are underway to preserve it.

Though much reconstruction is currently taking place, this church is definitely worth a visit as it has a wealth of history.

Right in be centre if Tien you will find one if the most beautiful if working churches in Leuven. Access is free to some parts and pay for the museum. A Corpus Christi procession went into the church whilst u was in a bat nearby saying a different kind of prayer! The icon of KU Leuven University resides in the... More

This might not be so great to go to on its own, but it does have several interesting paintings and is included in the price of a ticket to the M Museum, which is just a few minutes walk, so well worth it as an extension to the M. Also nice if you like gothic cathedrals.

I love the look of the cathedral from the outside so was looking forward to see the interior but unfortunately I was disappointed. Looked a bit of a mess and you have to pay to access part of it.

When traveling I like to visit churches and cathedrals to admire the architecture and the appointments and decorations inside. Each church is different. Some churches, as in Trier, go back to the 4th century. But what always irritates be almost beyond endurance is having to pay for the privilege of entering a church. Often I light a candle or put...
