Nice place to visit Ghent city centre, old town. Some wonderful old buildings, lots of nice restaurants and shops.

Actually this is the highlight, the large numbers of interesting buildings, from very old to modern, lots of Art Deco for instance. Lots of canals, lots of churches. It is the overall effect of the center that is attractive more than any individual thing

After staying in Brussels for a few days, I found it really refreshing to go to Ghent. It is an awesome town with a lot of majestic buildings that everyone should see at least once in their lifetime.

Ghent is just an hour away from Brussels. Is a chance not to be missed even for just a walk around in the city center. The three bell towers attract you in a very strange way. I feel very unlucky cause the weather was rather...More

About 60 mins from Brussels by train gave us a lovely day out. The friendly cosmopolitan atmosphere was a delight. The river trip, though short was informative and a good way to see more in a short time.

Ghent is a nice city to bring a visit. We visited Ghent for a day and I had the feeling that was enough (without entering every museum / church / tower). We took a free walking tour which showed us the most important parts of...More

Ghent does not have half the tourists that Brugge does, partly because some consider it less photogenic. (I'd say they are pretty close). However the tradeoff is that you get to enjoy this small city in a more relaxed peaceful way - without the hoards...More

Ghent city centre is lovely and compact, canal rides, castle, cathedral , belfry, town hall and shops and restaurants all available just to saunter round. Watch out for the bicycles :-) I August 2017 Ghent banned cars from it's streets, so just buses, trams and...More

Ghent is a slightly ‘bigger’ version of Bruges. There are nice cafes, shops and places of interests such as museums, cathedrals, markets, ... all within walking distance.

Take Tram 1 from tram station outside St Pieters, alight at Gravensteen station - easily identifiable by the castle and quite central.

There is a service from Brussels to Ghent. The main station in Brussels covers all destinations. Check when you buy your ticket for times.
