This part of the city is where any tourist ends up by visiting and it's worth the walk. The canal homes are lovely and it's easy to walk around or take a canal boat ride to appreciate them. Bring your camera.

Very pretty place along where you can catch a boat to cruise the canal so enjoy a meal at a nearby restaurant. Plenty of places to just sit and enjoy the scene.

Great experience of walking around the canal. Boating was fun and seeing old historical buildings on both sides of the canal is superb. Atmosphere is fantastic on any time of the day.

It is great to walk along canals and rivers. The banks are occupied by a book market in the weekend.

This area seems to be one of the main meeting places for youngsters and is very attractive with the canal and interesting buildings. Especially appealing at night,

The river is lined with historic buildings and is considered one of the most beautiful parts of Ghent. The best photos of this area are taken from the St. Michael's Bridge. Enjoy a local beer at one of the pubs while viewing the river.

Yes, most are. Anyway the town is really small. You can easily walk around “de kuip” (old city centre) in 2 hrs. No need to use tram.

You can get a train to Gent and it's a 40 mins walk form the train station or you can get a tram and it will take only 10mins.
