The tour was a great way to get oriented in ghent. I loved all the history and stories that Ben had to offer us. A definite highlight of our stay.

I approached Ben a few months ago as I was planning to propose to my girlfriend in Ghent and thought a private, walking tour would help create the perfect moment. From the second I reached out to Ben, he was fair on pricing and very flexible (I even changed my mind on where I wanted to propose the day before the tour!).
Ben was super knowledgable of the history of Ghent but also gave some great restaurant recommendations for after the tour. Ben ended our tour on Lievebrug bridge which was perfect for the proposal. Ben was in great spirits throughout the tour and very passionate about Ghent. Would highly recommend a tour with Ben to anyone visiting Ghent (especially a custom tour!).

I cannot express how happy I am with your gorgeous review. This was by far the most original request ever for a customized tour: a proposal for a wedding. Imagine that!
I'm glad you trusted me completely from the very moment you contacted me several months ago.
We had lots and lots of WhatsApp conversations about the best bridge where the big moment was supposed to happen. And sure, it was a last moment decision indeed, but intimate Lievebrug was the best possible choice in hindsight. Because it's slightly off the beaten track, far away from the tourist crowds of Saint Michael's Bridge with unwanted attention.
I must say: I was really touched when she said yes and got emotional after you proposed on your knees with the wedding ring. That must have been such a relief for you. Like in: Yes! Mission accomplished!
I wish you all the best as a married couple.

We were a weekend in Ghent with our 4 godchildren and booked a trip with Ben. We hired 3 tandem bikes, it was hilarious. Our 4 children enjoyed every minute. Ben was animating and educational in the same time. We strongly recommend a trip with Ben, he's by far the best guide of Ghent!

Your outside the box suggestion to rent tandem bikes for a custom Ghent tour, was really a magnificent idea. You could see that the youngsters had the time of their life riding these tandem bikes.
I would also like to thank you for your kind words about my guiding qualities. That means a lot to me as a certified Ghent guide.

Absolutely outstanding!! Ben went above and beyond! Even before the tour. He provided me contacts to Ghent history in answer to my many questions. No other tour guide offered anything. And, then his tour ... it was thorough, interesting, pertinent to what I wanted and, of course, very fun! He is still helpful. You can't find anyone better than Ben in Ghent. He is the best by far, hands down!

For all my custom tours, I always try to be as helpful as I can. I guess it's part of my DNA. I'm glad that you appreciate that so much.
Furthermore: I don't know if I'm the best guide in Ghent, but I'm certainly an official certified guide. And that really makes a difference, in my opinion. Plus: I'm a local and I live in downtown Ghent.

Sorry for my late response: I'm on vacation.
You could join my night tour at 10pm on August 25. This tour is free. This means: If you liked it, you can tip afterwards. If you didn't like it, you don't have to tip. Of course, a good tip is a sign of appreciation.
Please note that I'm a licensed city guide: the only licensed city guide in Ghent who does free tours.
