The historical Korenmarkt (wheat market) is the heart of the old city. The square has a few historic buildings including the old post office and St. Nicholas’ Church. There are also the usual retail outlets and restaurants with patios surrounding the square. If you need...More

We walked the beautiful historic streets of Old Town Ghent including the Korenmarkt, here it is all about the beautiful old buildings and quirky boutique shops. Historic buildings with restaurants and bars, any of which could be in a beautiful landscape painting.

Loved the area, so many outdoor restaurants converge on this square. Don't miss the beautiful Post Office building. Lots of shopping nearby and don't miss the Australian ice cream nearby - it was amazing!

A nice square, not very large, and hard to miss once you're in the old quarter. From here it's all about old architecture, outdoor eateries, chocolate/waffle shoppes, and people watching. Bring your camera. Nice city center.

The square is typical of cities in Europe. The old Post Office building is here and worth a look. Plenty of places to sit and have a coffee or something stronger. A lot of tram traffic here as well.

Ghent's market square is peaceful and very large. As with all main squares, it is a great place to unwind and people watch. It's also smack down in the middle of the old town so you can't miss it.

A nice timeout from touring, the Markt is a great place to people-watch from the various cafes and restaurants that abound the square.
