“Erotic and satanic” artist, Rops was characterised by a few critics like this. Actually, he subscribed to the artistic trend of his time, when everyone tried to reveal original themes, multiple roots giving birth to multiple branches. One cannot visit Namur without seeing Felicine Rops,...More

One should go here if you love the history of art, especially of the mid- to late 19th century, since Rops has a connection with most of the events that influenced that period. Or perhaps if you have an interest in the macabre or have...More

Diverse and interesting little museum tucked away in a nice area of Namur. The works on show were a journey into a different style of art and you need an open mind if visiting just for "Arts" sake. Plenty of erotic stuff - be warned....More

First of all, if you're easily offended, don't go to this museum. Rops is a controversial artist and some of his work is a bit disturbing. With that said, this is a well done and laid out museum. You walk through in chronological order and...More

Very well laid out. Covered the artist's whole life and works. English was available via audio guide but only for selected works. I would recommend at least 2 hours to go through the museum. Not suitable for children due to a lot of graphic drawings.

Interesting gallery. Only two floors so very easy to wander around and take your time. Some of the paintings are of an erotic nature. Nice building in the centre of Namur.

This is a very interesting museum with a lot of information about an artist that was previously unknown to me. Entry was very cheap. It's a little hard to find due to the construction going on in the street.

Very nice museum dedicated to Fecilien Rops, a well-known Belgian artist. Visit it with a guide, you will get to know more about the artist and the time frame in which he worked.

Rops was a wizard who used skeletons, bones, masks and genitals to show his despise to society and to the powers that were. The exposition of Ensor and Rops showed very well that Ensor owes a lot to Rops. The museum has a huge collection...More

Joris-Karl Huysmans and Félicien Rops are without a shadow of doubt the two most prominent figures of the late 19th century Decadent Movement. His most famous work 'Pornocratès' is still on display and a banner of this painting is on the outside wall of the...More
