The underground tour was so good- the ex-miner who hosted us made the one and a half hours below so interesting for all. He really engaged with the tour party and made every effort to fire everyone with enthusiasm, especially the children. Really felt that he'd make a good teacher! Facilities overall excellent- friendly staff and so much to see.

attended with our 5 year old - he had a great time. Staff were engaging and informative. Tour was great and authentic. Definitely worth a visit, a train ride and underground tour for 3 of us cost only £13!

For reasons I can't explain I haven't been here since I bought my family in the late eighties soon after it opened. So now I was back with my grandchildren and we were all most impressed. Seeing as it's free and only just up the road I'll be coming back to explore the nature trail and stop off for another... More

The mining museum is a great day our for adults and kids. It is hard to believe that you have to explain to your 10 year old the importance of coal to this country and the amount of man(and woman) power involved in the coal industry but this provides a great way of doing this. The underground tour was excellent... More

This was such an amazing day out. I visited today with my mum, 76 and my children, 8 and 12. The above ground activities are great but the trip down the pit was something else. This has got to be the best way to experience what life was like over the years , underground. Our guide, Mick Green is a... More
