A beautiful 15th century church on the crest of the hill between the Upper and Lower Towns in Brussels, very easy to get to and well worth a visit for its own sake. But I had the good luck to attend a concert there, too, one evening. The program described the concert this way, "Autour des Leçons de Ténèbres de... More

Large cathedral, with architectural similarities to Notre Dame in Paris. The building is quite tall.

This church is unbelievably gorgeous. Unfortunately, you couldn't access the center aisle, as there were renovations going on during our visit, but it was still so beautiful. We only had one day in Brussels, so this was the only church we saw, but I'm so glad we got the chance. Even my children were in awe. It is definitely worth... More

This is just breathe taking. The stained glass is beautiful. There were renovations going on when we visited which did take away the atmosphere but we understand these things have to be done.

The detail work on every inch of this building is magnificent. You can easily access it from the Hop On - Hop Off bus and it is within walking distance of other interesting sites. On the weekend there is even an open air antiques market behind the church.

Among those busy streets and cars racing by stands this church quiet with the architecture and stained glass that will leave you awe struck. Despite this being the 140th Church that you visit in Europe it is a different and you cannot quite put it in words. Get the opening and closing times right. Closes at about 6.

Church stands near arterial road and still carries some special energy of Gothic forms. Inside is a mixture of different styles and furnishing. Pulpit is special, some altars have very cold forms.

Even though this church is free to enter, I think making a small contribution to their "poor box" would be a lovely gesture. It takes a mountain of money to maintain these old buildings and every contribution helps.

Must Visit place. The details are just incredible.... and the location is great. The stained glass and carved woodwork are especially beautiful. Be sure to go inside before 5pm as it closes after that..
