Lots of very modern buildings and some of them are mammoth. Definitely an important business/government district with important work going on. But the urban design and architecture are not all that pleasing. Come and see for yourself, but you will not want to linger. Not much charm.

The western part of Brussels is full of buildings related to the European Union. Not exactly a tourist attraction, it does not offer anything particularly interesting for visitors apart from some unremarkable offices. It is more about the meaning than the sight itself.

The EU Quarter (Quartier des Institutions Europeennes) is the center of European Union administration. Just walk in this area and explore the buildings and think about how diverse of EU is.

While there is much that you can learn from books and indeed the Internet, to really feel and understand what Europe is about, how it functions and what it does (and indeed how important it is), you have to be here and see it for yourself. That then is exactly what I did - I spent the whole day here exploring not only the buildings themselves which are open to the public but exploring the whole area. It is easy to get here by metro or indeed on foot - a bit of a walk from downtown but well worth it to see the different buildings and of course the flags everywhere you look, not to mention the murals on the sides of the buildings. Such a shame that we left.

Centre for all European Union administration. Police presence evident at every step, heavily guarded.

my husband and I spend a day at the EU Parliament, House of European History and EU Parliamentrium, learnt a lot about EU and Europe, that's not something one could just learn from watching TV or read books, you've got to be there.

The European Quarter in Brussels is the area where most if not all the buildings, offices of the European Union are located. They are quite huge! We visited several, and some of the most impressive we found to be the Parliament, the Parlamentarium and the House of European History. Really amazing! Some of the other buildings could not be visited as they are closed to the public, like the Berlaymont (the seat of the European Commission). The visits are quite useful as they provide a very good opportunity for people to learn just about everything about the European Union.

Came looking for the United Nations building if there is one . Couldn’t find it but found a vibrant modern area filled with amazing buildings, most of which were related to the European Union and its various different departments.
Today is Sunday so nothing was open ... nice and quiet
