Feb 2020 • Solo
Take your dog or just yourself, no tech devises whatsoever and walk in the chilly morning by the lake in Bois de la Cambre. If early enough or just a bit late, the chances are you will enjoy a peaceful solitude as well. Sit there in a bench and clean your mind and soul with the beauty of the nature hesitating to break already into an early spring or not.

We love the varied landscape of this large park. There are wooded areas, big lawns, winding paths and a lovely pond with a tiny island, which can only be reached by a cable-drawn ferry. At weekends the Bois de la Cambre is always busy with joggers, dog walkers, families out for a stroll, children playing on the grass, cyclists and roller-skaters. There are plenty of opportunities to have a drink or grab a bite. An added bonus if the fact that the park is easily reachable by public transport. Depending on where we want to start our walk we take tram 7 or 8

Get metro line 3 to Churchill at the end of the line and walk east towards the trees. Here you are at this spike into suburbia of the forest.
Continue 1 km east and you will come across a lake with a charming restaurant on an island in the middle. You pay the ferryman one euro to cross (once) which keeps it select.
Chill out wth a beer or tackle the brasserie. A hidden gem.

This park is used as a short-cut to their work stations by the locals. There is a century old tree here. Have some respect. Plants are great.

Brussels nicest park, with an entrance to the Forest of Soignes. A lot of natives spend their sunny days here, there is a charming little island in its centre, where you can drink or eat quiet good things. Closed for cars on weekends. I live next door, I assure it is very nice. Lots of joggers, a few skaters, bicycles, kids, nice for a picnic, poney rides,... so cool.

I come here often in the warmer months with friends. Either to the Bois to sit, lie down or play, or to the Forest to walk and bask in nature's beauty.
The place to be in the summer months as many locals come here, yet it's so big it's always easy to find a place to sit. There are streets going trhough the park but they're closed to cars at the weekend so people use them for riding bikes, skateboarding and rollerblading.
A pleasant peaceful space within a busy city.

Great place to walk around, just take care with your children though as we had two occasions when men tried to lure them away from us...

Some lovely peaceful walks here away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Easy to get also with a direct tram from the centre.

If you need to relax in the green, on the shore of the lac or even on an island in Brussels, go to Le" Bois de la Cambre".
Like Central Park in NY or Hyde Park in London, a peaceful walk in the green becomes a must after visiting any large cities. There is a good restaurant "Chalet Robinson" on a small island accessible by cable boat (1 Euro). In the Park, there is also a roller-skate ring, a theater, other restarant-cafe-terrace to enjoy if weather permits!

Is there a traffic free zone on weekdays or only at weekends? Thanks!
