If you are in Belgium, I highly recommend you visit this museum (Once it reopens next year!). The highlight in my opinion is the is a wealth of arts from a great number of different Central African ethnic/ cultural groups. There are many other artefacts related to this region of Africa too, including natural history.

Scheduled for re-opening in June 2018! When it does, I expect it to be a full 5 star attraction. The "old" museum presentation, which was a bit stuffy, exhibited a wealth of Central African (Congo) artifacts, art, historical documents, stuffed animals, a huge wood-log canoe. And, not accessible by the public, this museum has one of the world's largest collections... More

I saw this museum some time ago (it has since been closed for renovations), but it was a fun place to visit and I learned quite a lot about Belgium's interactions with the African continent. It's not particularly interactive, but if you are willing to do some reading, it's a very interesting place.

A majestic building from the King Leopold II era where a large number of items from the Congo adventure are on display. A beautiful parc, magnificent building and very satisfying expo.

Helped by easy parking, but note that before you reaise it you can be a distance away so take all you... More

Just to let you know the museum is temporarily closed until mid-2017. In the meantime they are opening "Pop-up museums" at various locations which you can see on their website.

This is a fabulous one of a kind museum that I highly recommend. Right now (summer 2014) it is closed for renovations and won't be open for a couple of years. This is one of the largest collections of ethnographic and historic materials from Africa. But it also has some very different kinds of exhibits that really make you think.
