This is a beautiful church, complete with an original by Peter Paul Rubens! The stone carving, glass and especially the painted artworks make this worth a visit. Ornate pulpit. When you're there, pick up a book of the "Torens aan de Dijle", which describes all of the churches in Mechelen, each of them as interesting and beautiful as this one.

Beautiful artwork and wooden carvings. You can literally smell the history in here. Both paintings and carvings are quite simply awesome

Works by Peter Paul Rubens are in two of Mechelen’s churches. This altar triptych, The Adoration of the Wise Men, was the first to be done in 1617. On one side panel is John the Baptist baptizing Christ and the other is John the Evangelist on Patmos. The church also has beautifully carved wooden confessionals.

They are finishing the renovation of the exterior, and the church looks very appealing and elegant again. However, now they are doing the interior, and therefore the church is closed, supposedly for another 2 years.

.. though sadly there does seem to be a fair few cracks appearing in the walls. Hopefully, these are superficial. Anyhow, some lovely carvings and paintings with a small internal museum of artifacts in one niche. Spent around 20 minutes strolling around.
