We visited the church on a relatively quiet Saturday afternoon. The church has lovely stained-glass windows, and a beautiful pulpit. At the back of the church there is a small museum that tells the story of St. Rumbold, and contains a few small chapels. Since...More

An impressive old cathedral built by three generations of a family - didn't do the tower personally but was advised it was worth doing - most noteworthy was the stained glass - well worth a visit

I arrived to Mechelen to listen to the famous carillon (bell music) playing in the tower. Was inspired by Belgian musicians who come to play carillons in St. Petersburg and Peterhof.

This cathedral dominates the Mechelen area. Its exterior is impressive with the large spire (with a flat top) providing views over a large area of northern Belgium. The inside is equally impressive, although there were some renovation works going on during our visit. A worthwhile...More

Inside the church is a small museum with beautiful 16th century of the good deeds of St Rumbold and interesting statues that used to sit outside on the church walls. You can climb the tower for a nice view of the city .

The St.Rumbold's cathedral is a very imposing building with it's tower that dominates the whole Mechelen region. The exterior of the building has been cleaned and renovated and looks very sumptuous. The interior of the cathedral however is not in line with the expectations: the...More

Certainly worth the climb, 100m above Mechelen. We expected it to be windy on the platform but the glass walkway keeps you well protected. If you are visiting Mechelen visit this before the Zoo or boat trip to get discount vouchers for the other attractions.

This unfinished tower can be seen from long distance. It's like the name card of Mechelen. It has been listed by UNESCO. Inside it is also quite astonishing. If you are fit enough, take the 400some staircase to climb up to see the beautiful view....More

I made a day trip to Mechelen to visit this cathedral, and it was more than worth it. A bright interior has many historical and religious items to see. And be sure to climb the Belfort - open after lunch weekdays for an impressive collection...More

The area of St. Rumbold's Cathedral has been redeveloped massively in the last few years. It's very beautiful now, many restaurants and shops around, nice green area nearby and nice atmosphere. I very much recommend a visit!
