This is a very busy pedestrian mall filled with shops and restaurants. This is rough walking as it is cobblestones and quite a lot of construction and blockages.

Antwerp did not disappoint - a definite must see in Belgium!!! We went all over the city and every place fabulous, clean, upscale/ornate! Loved the Meir area, wide long boulevard - reminded us some of Madrid or Vienna. Would highly recommend!

Fantastic area to visit with a multitude of high chain stores & local independents near by, you need deep pockets if you’re going to spend a day in Antwerp, well worth a visit!

Meir is Antwerp's prime shopping destination. The pedestrian street is full of boutiques of all price ranges as well as shopping malls. It is also the best place in the Belgian city to people-watch and understand the local popular culture. Very pleasant walk.

The Meir is the main shopping street in Antwerp. It stretches from the Anthony Van Dyck Monument at Leysstraat in the east to the Meirbrug junction to the west. The street is roughly 550 metres in length and has some of the most expensive rent space in all of Belgium.

In what is considered by some to be a Belgium version of NYC's 5th Avenue, you will find a mix of luxury retail brand shops, department stores like HEMA, shopping malls including the Grand Bazaar and Stadsfeestzaal along with historic buildings such as Paleis op de Meir and Rubens house and workshop. There are chocolate shops, nice restaurants and more casual eateries as well.

The entire street is pedestrian only these days so it is easy to stroll along Meir even if you are not keen on shopping. This also makes for a convenient walking route between Antwerp Central Station and sightseeing around Grote Markt so good chance you are passing along the Meir at some stage of your visit to Antwerp.

Walking street with lots of brand-name shops but few bargains! Good if you have money to burn and deep pockets.

This used to be or perhaps still is Belgium's premium shopping area. More and more people buy through internet or prefer a more compact climatized mall. The effect is noticeable as I saw quite a few vacant places. However, the pedestrianized street is great to walk through on a warm October day with plenty of people around and all kinds of shops (also unique ones and not just part of chains).

Don't forget to look up at the numbers 50 (palace) and 85 (Rococo style building).

You can enjoy walking from Central Station, all the way up The Meir to the Old Town. Plenty of stores mixed with history. A very friendly commercial street. I loved the walk,
