As a linguistics student, this museum was an absolute dream. And even if you are not interested in what the museum has to offer, it is also fun to just look at the building(s) itself. To see how they lived back then.

The museum is kept entirely as a family home of tje 16th century. The printing divison was the biggest in Europe at its time, and still there.

I loved this museum. The world's oldest printing presses! Swoon! The actual birthplace of the fonts Garamond and Helvetica! Just amazing. Photos okay but NO FLASH. Great visit!

The recently remodelled Plantin-Moretus house is a great place for everyone who likes books. Walking through the actual building the master-printer lived and worked is a great experience, giving you a renewed respect for the effort those early-day printers went through to deliver knowledge on a large scale. And, if you're lucky, you can watch (a replica of) their first... More

Interesting museum about the history of printing. It is in the house and the workshop of one of the first printers in the world.

The recently renovated museum is fantastic! You can find facsimile books everywhere to leaf through, whilst sitting on a comfortable bench or chair, with a reading light. Of course, this UNESCO world heritage site is extra ordinary. The first printing press. So many old books, printed, but also handwritten. Contemporary art from e.g. his friend Rubens. A must see!

A walk through a series of rooms, across two levels, telling stories about this printing family. Lots of books (not surprising I guess 😀 I got tired of it. They recommend 2 hours, but I think 30 mins is more appropriate. There are better ways to spend your time in Antwerp.

If the weather is a little rainy, you could visit this museum. It is a museum around the beginning of printing in the region. One of my ancesters, Scribonius Grapheus, born in 1485 played an important roll here being secretary of the City, so this museum makes it for me extra interesting. It's focussed on the 16th Century, so after... More

You may not have heard of Plantin - Moretus but do pay a visit. This museum is a fascinating insight into life in Antwerp in the sixteenth century. Uniquely laid out with clear multi-lingual explanations - great destination on a wet afternoon! Note: This museum is not accurately marked on the city map!

This museum is just open after renovation. One of the most interesting musea from Antwerp. A spectacular interior with lots of books and prints. With a guided tour you learn the history in the language of your choice. The whole atmosphere is stunning and charming. Also the small square (vrijdagmarkt) is nice to drink some beer or wine in the... More
