The Mauritshuis is home to the very best of Dutch Golden Age painting. The compact, yet world-renowned collection, is situated in the heart of The Hague, right next to the government centre. Masterpieces such as Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp by Rembrandt, The Goldfinch by Fabritius and The Bull by Potter are on permanent display in the intimate rooms of this seventeenth-century monument.

Initially, I only went there for The Lady with the Pearl Earring (typical tourist, I know). The next thing that I had after I entered the musem was a huge satisfaction from the large collection of paintings and excellent interior of the museum. The division...More

Nice collection and the house is an art of itself. And the girl with pearl earring is surprisingly a small painting. Came here with the museum card.

This museum located in the heart of the city. The museum's building is a beautiful royal palace, but the most important is the first-class collection of paintings.I really enjoyed it! I advise everyone this place.

Mauritshuis is my favorite kind of art museum -- it features a focused collection (of Dutch golden age paintings, in this case) that is small enough to view and appreciate in one sitting, all housed in a lovely old palace. The majority of the paintings...More

We took a train from Amsterdam (1 hour) especially to visit (we had to see the Girl with the Pearl Earring!). Even though it was a Sunday and raining, inside it was not crowded and we had a very pleasant and informative visit. Some great...More

This museum is a gem. Vermeer's "Girl with the pearl earring" is a highlight, but it has so much more. Plus it is housed in a former mansion and the architecture is fabulous.

Work outing for culture and cake - amazing art, boutique sized gallery that does not dominate but frames the collection brilliantly. While the ‘Girl with the Pearl Earring’ is the most well known, I always find another gem each time I go. Heartily recommend!

Spent a wonderful day in this lovely gallery. So many great paintings, old favourites and also lesser known works - loved the paintings by the few women shown here, are there more that are hidden away? I have loved Dutch landscapes and portraits since I...More

It's not cheap to enter but you get the audio guide included (via a free app). I took the joint ticket with the Gallerij Prins Willem V and wished I'd saved my money and spent more time here. It's room after room of gems. Reubens,...More

I think not. The line to enter the Anne Frank House is long and the travel time to The Hague is just under an hour each way plus a 15 minute walk to Mauritshaus from the train station. Unless you are a traveler who just... More
