The Mauritshuis is home to the very best of Dutch Golden Age painting. The compact, yet world-renowned collection, is situated in the heart of The Hague, right next to the government centre. Masterpieces such as Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp by Rembrandt, The Goldfinch by Fabritius and The Bull by Potter are on permanent display in the intimate rooms of this seventeenth-century monument.

It's a much smaller and compact museum if you compare with Rijks but worth a visit if you are in Hague, particularly as it's located close to the city center. We have the Museumkaart so entry was free. It was just busy enough without a...More

Interesting building/architecture. Very nice collection (Vermeer, Rembrandt, Rubens, etc) and the place is not overwhelming. A must if you're in the area.

The new renovated Mauritshuis is worth a visit. The new building structure mixed with the old architecture is a real treat. The paintings have stayed the same with just a few hidden modern art pieces in the ceiling (to receive extra grant). I wouldn't say...More

I do not consider myself an art buff but I did enjoy walking around the museum looking at the works of art. I even looped back around to see some again for a longer look. You will need to leave backpacks at the coat check.

The highlight of the visit to Mauritshuis was not just seeing the "Girl with the pearl" yet other art work as well. If you are a Rubens fan, then do add this to your places to visit. In addition to the main Gallery a small...More

The Mauritshuis Museum is one of the main reasons to visit the lovely city of The Hague. It is a very manageable museum that's organized into about 15 fairly small rooms on two floors. The free Mauritshuis app includes an easy-to-follow audio guide, and even...More

It is one of the most beautiful muséums I have ever visited as it houses a number of art masterpieces known world-wide. Rembant's "Anatomy Lesson" is there and so is his famous self-portrait as an old man. Of course Vermeer's "Girl with the Pearl Earring"...More

I think not. The line to enter the Anne Frank House is long and the travel time to The Hague is just under an hour each way plus a 15 minute walk to Mauritshaus from the train station. Unless you are a traveler who just... More
