The city is quite poor and dirty.
The worst is the people, I am even afraid to go around the city after some bad experiences.
The city is new, and I think it can be interesting to visit, if you are an architect or like architecture.
But a lot of the city is bad. Visit only by the Erasmus Brugge and the city center, if you can at all avoid the other areas.
If you are visiting Holland, I recommend going to other places, like Dordrecht, Utrecht, Delft, that are all nice and beautiful places.

De Rotterdam is a newer addition to the modern city of Rotterdam. Next to the impressive Erasmusbrug, It is a symbol of modernity in the Dutch city. It adds a lot of color to the city's already impressive waterfront.

This city has nothing special to offer. Little atmosphere, price-quality ratio of food is not exactly right, it is difficult to find a decent eating place. No nice cafes and terraces. Angry looking people, little contact

The Dutch obviously enjoy being adventurous, and this shows in the amazing buildings wqe see all over the country. In this case this building is a remarkable achievement of the architectural spirit! It's worth visiting. But looking at it from a distance surely gives the viewer a taste of its majesty!

Very nice architecture. From here you have a nice view to the river and at the same time you are close to some of the most innovative buildings in the world.

This brand new building (completed in 2013) attracts a lot of attention on the Wilhelminapier and in the skyline. It's a massive building designed by world famous architect "Rem Koolhaas" which attracted quite some attention of the international press. You can visit it via De Rotterdam Tours and it houses offices, apartments and a hotel (nhow Rotterdam). When taking its volume and floor space into consideration it's the bigges building in the Netherlands. You get a nice view on the building when crossing the Erasmusbrug or watching it from the other side of the river (for example from the Veerhaven or Westerkade). You can also visit the roof terrace of the nhow hotel inside the building for free and have drinks, lunch or dinner. It's an impressive modernistic building, while on sunny days you can see the reflection of the Erasmusbrug on its surface.

This is an amazing (and windy) place for you to go up the building (only till the 7th floor though) and have one of the most rewarding views Rotterdam can provide. For that, you enter the "nhow" hotel, go to the elevator, and go to the restaurant bar there (open to everybody, not just the guests). Enjoy the splendid balcony

My office located in the Rotterdm building right in the same hall as hotel NHow. There are several cafes and restaurants here. Thre is also bar on the 7th floor of the hotel. I think the best in this bar is terrase. When there is nice weather you can get fantastic view of Rotterdam and Erasmus bridge.

This is a cruise stop. I do not really want to spend all day on a bus.
How far is it into the city from the cruise terminal? Distance or taxi time?
Thanks for any info and/or advice.

Hi , i assum your in Rotterdam for a day [or few hrs ] lay over , the ships dock is dirrectly across the river from the city , you can catch a water taxi to go across [ less then 5 minutes in the boat ] and walk the river walks , you can also catch the same river taxi to the rotterdam [boat ]5 mins also , its about a 20-30 min walk [ my preference] but you will need a few hrs to do a tour of the boat [ there are a few to choose from ] if thats what your thinking , there is plenty of public transport available in rotterdam, bus , light rail , bicycle , going to see the city is very easy , i would suggest a harbour tour [also across the river from the dock you will be at ], the cruise boats usually dock early in the morning and go later in the afternoon so you have lots of time
