We went to the Royal Maas Yacht Club at the Veerhaven for a speakers dinner. Beautiful environment (especially when it doesn't rain...). The dinner was good with nice views and a superb "ride" back with the water taxi.

The Veerhaven is an historic harbour area of the City of Rotterdam, not destroyed during WW2. Very scenic and lively with lots of businesses and restaurants in the historic houses. Great views also of the river New Maas and the Erasmusbridge.

This is a historic small boat yard (yep you can buy one here too ! and very beautifully historic buildings, and you should see the great office space available in some of them...so very nice...my last few hours here I briskly walked all the way around....and saw some special person car convoy go by with motorcycle cops, on those skinny streets, watching a scout car pull a u turn...and seeing "my ship hotel" across the water was neat too...

This is a nice area if you can get to it, and it's good for a walk or a sit down along the water. You can watch the boats, or the world go by and just relax.

A charming neighborhood with the waterfront and some nice residential buildings looking on to the water. Quiet.

We were lucky enough to be staying in this neighborhood so we had a lovely walk home every evening and a beautiful view from our high-rise. There are a few nice restaurants and some interesting old boats to see. Close to the Maritime Museum and the center of the city

Rotterdan is a world famous city of modern architecture, but also a city with charming corners, often to do with water. Not surprising with the river Meuse flowing through the city. One of those charming corners at the Meuse is the "Veerhaven" (literally Ferrry Harbour), a small harbour, now used by yachting, and lined with noble buildings. Except on one place, where the powers that be could not be restrained from inserting an ugly concrete box-like structure. But the place is worth a visit. You can combine it with a visit to the "Wereldmuseum", housed in one of those noble buildings.

Among dozens of modern buildings and skyscrapers, you will find this small, very cute harbor, with its colored little boats. It is really a nice place and it is in the center of the town, so very easy to find.

definitely take time to visit the Veerhaven and its old boats and ships. Volunteers work on the restoration of the boats to keep memories alive.
