Charging for entrance to a church is, frankly, appalling and unchristian. Whenever I visit great churches and cathedrals, as a tourist or a visiting worshiper, I donate for the maintenance of these important and beautiful buildings. It is completely reasonable to charge tourists for access and tours to areas not intended by the builders for public access (such as bell towers), but to put up any price barrier whatsoever to entry to what is and out to be a place of divine inspiration — and spiritual refuge — goes against the very core of Christian belief.

The big church in the centre of Rotterdam is the only medieval structure that survived the bombardment of 1940. It was quite nicely restored after the war. When open, it can be visited for a 3 euro access fee. A protestant church since 1572, it is fairly austere but still quite beautiful to see on the inside.

Lucky that our hotel was right beside this church and the small park fronting it. The church's architecture is beautiful. But what I loved was the vibe outside the church. It was the perfect place to chill and hang out in one of the park benches.

My experience of this church was unusual, as I attended an evening event there. But it is well worth a visit anytime. There is a fine organ, gorgeous stained glass and architecture. There's a pay toilet. Make sure and see the Erasmus sculptures outside in the courtyard.

The Laurens church was damaged but not destroyed during the WW2 bombardment of Rotterdam. It stands tall as a survivor in the midst of postwar buildings. You can take an inside look for a charge of 3 euros. Toilet visit is 50 eurocents. Very much worthwhile!

The Grote of Sint-Laurenskerk is arguably the most beautiful church in Rotterdam.
To admire the facade you have to reach Grotekerkplein. The back side, instead, is located along Binnenrotte, which is a very nice and wide road linking the city center to the old port (Oudehaven).
We highly recommend a walk along Binnenrotte and to stop by the church to admire its majesty.

Very good to see. Beautiful, historical church! Very good organ. Special is that the church survived the bombings during World War 2.

Such a lovely peaceful place to visit I visited here with my bestfriend. Its €3 entrance fee which is well worth the price . You cant get over how vast the size of the church is until you see the high ceilings and vast stain glass windows . Lots of lovely exhibits , tombs to view definitely worth the visit
