As much an art museum as an architecture museum. Well worth visiting and ticket includes entry to sonneveld house nearby.

If you are looking for serious architecture exhibitions, you will find them here. Plenty of comprehensive documentation and detail, not just attractive photos. The bookshop offers a very broad and interesting selection, not just the usual selection. The cafe is the main disappointment- not the food but the frustratingly bad service- don't plan a meal break as they seem to... More

i've been there over the last weekend, to see the structuralism exhibition - the space is really well though "dutch style" - it's a perfect spot for a city tour stop, have one of the amazing paninis and a coffee - the book shop is the next stop after that

Het nieuwe instituut is one of my favorite spots in Rotterdam. A couple days a week I study here in the library. If you visit Rotterdam this is a really nice place to go on an afternoon. When it's colt and rainy you can wander around and watch one of the nice architectural exhibitions or have a look in the... More

We visited and were a little underwhelmed with the exhibition. The architecture display was excellent with lots of models of buildings in and around the Netherlands. If you are interested in the design process of buildings then this is the place for you. We were told to visit the exhibit downstairs - but it was awful. Hardly worth going down.... More

A very fitting museum for Rotterdam, a city which excels at creating friendly, open, modernist spaces and architecture. The experience depends a lot on the specific exhibitions you see, and all of them are temporary, as far as I could tell - so check in advance what is ongoing. My girlfriend and I enjoyed "Designing scarcity"; it presented some cool... More

Total waste of time and money careless staff and no Exhibition at all. Be carefull ask to the counter what is the exhibition since you can notice that advertised exhibition does not exist during your tour between the floors. No guidance just school children activities around and no signage about the exhibitions since there is no exhibition. May be some... More

I didn't know about this museum until I googled for something to visit on my spare day in Rotterdam. I found the trip advisor reviews and decided to go. I am sort of museumed out, but this one sounded a little different. I'm glad I went. It is not only about architecture, but it is about design, art, creative thoughts,... More

You need to have, I think, 2-3hrs. for this museum. There are so many famous painting, sculpture, historical things, and even the modern product or design of many artists. There is restaurant available, toilet are free, and nice view also free of charge :D

The NAI is a bit boring. Just loads of architecture stuff nothing really special. But the nice thing is you can visit the Sonneveld house next to the museum for free. And that really is a treat.
