In the zielpoort you can rent a room for trainings & events

Nice locations and the view is worth all the steps up ( Lift not working) . The Bistro under and next to the poort are friendly and help-full.

De Zijlpoort and its small neigbouring harbour are among the most pitoresk views of Leiden. Located on the outskirts of the city's center, it's a calm and quiet place, perfect for a chill-out. Check out the pretty recent addition to the hospitality business, the cafe and restaurant Lot en de Walvis and chill out over lunch or a good coffee... More

One of two remaining gates in the city's old walls (there used to be ~ a dozen), the Zijlpoort is in an interesting and less touristed part of town. Well worth the walk to see the small adjoining harbor, the gate's architecture, and the surrounding neighborhood.

If you fancy a walk along the unbeaten path, consider this asyour destination. The gate is still i use as one of the busiest cycle entrances to the city centre. Inside you'll find a nice (fish) restaurant which serves coffee on it's terrace in summer. Nearby you can find two old graveyards, the walk there is very pleasant. Furthermore the... More

This is the biggest of the city gates in Leiden, It is well restored and next to it is a cafe/ restaurant where you can drink something. What makes this location nice, is that there is green around and a lot of water, so a nice setting from where you can enter the old part of town!.

This is one of the best locations in town particularly on a sunny day when you can sit outside on the terrace overlooking the water. It is more than plesant to watch the boats pass by. The food, however, was a little disappointing and definitely not value for money. So if you are more after an experience and not into... More
