There is a lot to see - even after 2 hours (enough for our very young children) we had only visited 3 different rooms. We will return though as we bought the good value yearly Museum Card. The food in the ground floor cafe was nice and also reasonably priced. Staff throughout the building were extremely helpful. Parking is not... More

We really enjoyed visiting this museum despite the fact that we are not their typical target group (too old). The innovative way of displaying is amazing, you need a lot of time to make it through all the floors and exhibits. It was nice to see some researchers at work and to be able to talk to them. Very interactive... More

Great modern building. Lots of stuffed animals. But not enough place to display them and hardly any explanation. The big dinosaur is impressive. The educational part on the top floor is some parts interesting, sometimes not. I would advise from 4 years old, but we have been with our two kids of 6 and almost 3, and it was ok.

The collection of fossils is interesting and even contains specimen from the Burgess Shale. A t-rex (dug up and prepared by Pete Larson) will be added to the collection soon. Why the museum still uses the term prosobranch instead of gastropod is a bit mysterious - yes, many gastropods are prosobranchia, but the latter is a term no one uses... More

This awesome museum is in my opinion one of the best museums I ever visited. It consists of multiple sections, the biggest being the still-existing animal sectoin and the extinct animal section, along with geology section, theatre, cafe, temporary exhibitions, treasure room, anatomy section, movement area and kids playroom. It is all very educational and you will definitely know much... More

Great way to spend the day, especially for animal lovers and people with kids! A whole lot of interactive games for kids to learn. Very nice people that work there, especially the people that do research there gave a very interesting explanation of the work they do on a daily basis.

The museum presents the exhibits in a fun and interesting manner. It is a great museum for kids encouraging them to touch with the interactive displays throughout the museum. The hall for the senses was especially fun. The museum is a short walk from the Leiden Central Station (train) and an easy day trip from Amsterdam.

I came here during a university orientation program. Though we were probably older than the target audience, we all enjoyed ourselves. The animal collection is outstanding, and international students enjoyed pointing out animals from their own countries. The dinosaur skeletons downstairs were also a highlight. Children there on school trips seemed very excited, so I would say it is great... More

The museum is absolutely amazing and too much to see in a day. Great for kids! Parking is quit far from the museum and general facilities like restaurants & toilets could use some approvements. We first checked the menu of the restaurant before going, but when w arrived they did not serve most of the dishes! The bar was messy... More

Great activity for a rainy day. Extensive collection and displayed in a manner that works for kids and adults.....however, I did find this more suitable for kids. Lots of stuff to look at. The animals are a favourite of the kids.
