About
The Old Church of Delft dates back to 1050 ad. In this church one finds the tombs of the famous painter Johannes Vermeer, naval heroes Piet Hein and Maarten Tromp, and scientists such as Anthonie van Leeuwenhoek. The beautiful stained glass windows of this church are also worth seeing.

It costs €8 to visit both this and the New Church - totally worthwhile! There’s a handout in many languages on both churches included with your admission and between that and the signage, everything is clear. The staff is very helpful and the gift shop is small but quite nice.

    Landmark of Delft
The leaning tower of Oude Kerk is an eye-catching landmark of Delft. One of the tallest structures of the city, it can be seen anywhere around the historic city center. Entrance requires admission.

    Old Church, Peaceful Visit
The Oude Kerk is, naturally, an old church located in the center of Delft. We visited in April 2023. Parts of the church date from the 13th century, and at this time the interior is a brilliant painted white with beautiful stained glass windows. Displays spread throughout the interior describe aspects of the church’s architecture and history along with notable individuals from Delft. Numerous people are buried in the church, including Johannes Vermeer and Anthony van Leeuwenhoek, many with carved tombstones. When we visited there was also a separate display of paintings from a contemporary Dutch artist, Henk Helmantel, who paints modern still lifes. As many others have noted, one may purchase a single ticket to enter both the Old and New churches in Delft. The church was busy when we visited, but there was plenty of space for people to spread around. Amenities included restrooms and a gift shop. There were no issues with taking photographs. Highly recommended for lovers of history and art and old churches. An hour or less is probably sufficient time to visit the church.

Worth the ten euros for a visit. We only went to the old church. The brochure explained what we were seeing. The history of this church is quite interesting.

The oldest church in Delft with much history. Tickers are currently 5.50 euro for adults. We enjoyed the visit and think it's worth viewing inside. Images on Trip Advisor will provide a taste of what you will see.

The church is really beautiful and has lots of interesting history around. They were doing an exhibit about WWII when we were there. Definitely worth a look as the cost of the ticket (€5.50) covers both the Oude and Neuwe Kerks.

It all started with a wooden church in 1050, which grew out to be a 75-metre high building with a gothic tower. The church has beautiful stained glass windows and two organs. It also holds several mausoleums and graves of important people, such as admirals Piet Hein, Maarten Tromp and the painter Johannes Vermeer.

This church was as beautiful as full of history. Seeing the graves of all those people is actually somewhat emotional ! You learn a lot in this old church, including on wermer and his family.

Don’t go there, they are cheaters. We bought tickets online to go to the church and tower With time slot but they didnt allowed us to enter! Saying that need to buy another ticket in church to go to the tower. 20 euros thrown away, we bought those tickets to go only to the tower! Stay away from these layers

Goodmorning Sercul, Since July one can only buy tickets to both of the Churches online. Perhaps you bought your tower ticket in advance - in June or earlier in July. My honest apologies for the inconvenience caused by the sometimes confusing ticketing system on our website. Our website provides ticketing information in both English and Dutch, but perhaps you were unable to see that option. The system is quite new, so still has its problems as it was installed during the COVID-19 period and we were experimenting with the various options. By the way, one can only visit the tower of the New Church - this review was written at the Old Church page.
