Marken is a must see village, the small museum is a place to discover the artistic Side of the village and the articles that are presented will bring you back in time. The village in itself is a big museum if you visit the Netherlands without taking time to go to Marken you regrets this in the future.

The two curators of this museum are from a family that has lived in Merken for some time. There are lots of glimpses of life in the past. There is a lot of information about historical costumes: what the variations relate to as far as colors, designs and occasions related to costumes. A video depicts a lot of different weather, and differences in how things worked on the island. There is a lot of hand-done stitching of various types, colors and fabrics. Very small but packed with information. Its a Must See, very easy to get to from Amsterdam and very close as well.

We visited this island and museum a few times. Nice small museum about the history of Marken. There are National costumes and traditional paintings to be seen. Only € 3,00 entrance fee so it is a must see! You can park your car outside the village at a 5 minutes walk. Cars are not allowed in the village. Totally run by volunteers. Currently closed because of Covis 19.

The entire village of Marken is an interesting place to visit but I always enjoy seeing a small local museum that has those items of family life as well as intriguing art works. Worth a stop.

You can go through this museum in less than 30 minutes. It is quite interesting and takes you back to another time and way of life in Marken.

This was a nice little museum we came across while touring Marken. We decided to make a quick stop and see some of the local history inside. It's a small place but very interesting info and the staff were very nice.

We stopped here as part of a bus tour. We enjoyed the video which provided a good sense of the areas history. This is not a long stop but worthwhile of you are in the area.

After seeing all the brick in the larger cities this is comprised mostly of wooded buildings. It was amazing to see that this museum was once home to six families! Go here if you want to see what life was like so many years ago. For you artisans the store has several patterns to choose from be it sewing, lace making or quilting.

Spent a few Euro to pop in this museum for about 15-20 min. Interesting to watch the 8 min film about the way of life in Marken and see the costumes they used to wear in Marken. Don't need to spent too much time here.

The main draw of Marken is just wandering around the narrow streets and taking in the beauty!

We stopped here as part of a guided tour.

The walk into this quaint little area is a real picture in time and is probably worth half the price of the admission. The buildings and houses are still very period and you get the feeling you're stepping onto a movie set.

The museum itself is a great idea, but it didn't really impress us that much. Perhaps our expectations were higher. There are really only a couple of rooms that are sparsely decorated, mostly with clothing and some period furniture. If we were more the type to be up on this stuff, it would probably be far more exciting.

I definitely support the local history and would be happy to make another donation, but this is definitely the type of attraction you only need to see once.
