The Dolhuys used to be a jail/hospital for mentally challenged people. Here one can see the change in perpective on this group of people and therefor the change in treatment. It is really educative but fun to visit with older family as well

This cafe next to the Museum Dolhuys is a good place to have a coffee even if you did not visit the museum. Nice atmosphere, firendly staff. Unfortunately they close at 17:00.

My grandson of 12 and myself spent two hours following the very interesting revelations of the development and understanding of psychiatric illnesses in all its forms. The diversity of approach in showing and understanding the intricacies and illnesses of the mind varies from audio to...More

Yes, there's only a brief guide in English available on loan from the shop, which runs out of steam somewhat towards the end. But to be honest the effect of this place is in the mind rather than in the brain...it's emotion rather than knowledge...More

This museum is a mere exercise in voyeurism on the suffering of people. At times the visit gets almost creepy

A museum oriented at the psyche of human kind. The Dolhuys is characterized by a nice mixture of scientific insights, art, personal experience and hands on activities, exhibited in a very nice way. The topic is at first sight not the first thing you would...More
