Outside the church was a very noisy carnival, but inside it was hushed. The flier we received with our admission told the story of this very old church plus pointed out a number of particularly interesting areas. The organ was fantastically, beautifully large, played by both Handel and Mozart. Originally built as a Catholic church, it switched around the time... More

Well-kept church in the heart of the city. Very interesting place to look around and to experience the organ (during our visit someone was practising, but nonetheless very impressive). The modest entrance fee was a bargain, compared with some other, more high-profile venues in the Netherlands. The Bavo is an important part of Haarlem's long history and it's good to... More

Within the city of Haarlem, located on the fringe of Grote Markt, formerly a catholic church, it dominates the square with its size. inside is a massive ornate organ, nice to walk around.

This church has great history and amazing artifacts to discover. Had a great time spending an hour here during our time in Haarlem.

Pretty but rather empty church. Mozart played the pipe organ as a kid, the key feature of the church. The floor consists of graves, Frans Hals is also buried there. Try to come in Spring or Summer when you can do guided tours in the bell tower in the weekends. Regular entrance is €2,50.

A lovely church with what can only be described as a huge organ some 5000 pipes, and all the flag stones below the feet as burial places, a good guide book helped the journey around the church, worth a visit.

Also known as Sint-Bavokerk, is the largest church in the city of Haarlem, built between 1370 and 1520, it served as a Catholic cathedral and then was converted into a Protestant church. But the real star of this Gothic cathedral is the famous Müller Organ , with more than 30 meters height . Regarded one of the best and most... More

An interesting Cathedral to visit, plenty of history. Search out the canon ball immured in the wall !

This church is more of a museum than a place of worship. The organ is beautiful. It was played by Handel and Mozart. Services and concerts were not available this time of year. Admission is 2,50 euro. There is a helpful brochure that guides you thru the church and explains the points of interest. Many of the items date back... More

We only had the chance to see the exterior of the Sint-Bavo, an imposing building in a very good condition on a very cosy place, the Grote Markt with all its cosy terraces.
