We visited quite a few museums on our trip through the lowland countries, England, and Edinburgh. Perhaps I was tired, or was too cold (it was very cold on the day we visited Haarlem) but I thought the Frans Hals museum was cold and uninspired....More

This museum is so much more than just one artist, Frans Hals. It's a slice of life in history, but then it displays an awareness of the irony of contemporary art. Don't miss it.

Romantic setting, many rooms, turns and circles. Relaxed atmosphere. Varied display of paintings and drawings.
