Located in Frans Hals home town it is a very interesting museum. We visited in the spring and there were live flower displays to complement the art. A most interesting mix!

Museum was not crowded when we visited and we had really enjoyed the work. Bring an earpiece if you want to listen to the audio-guide which is free. The lockers are also available but with a small fee. All in all, this was worth a visit if you are in Netherlands!

Good collection of old masters. They are predominately 17th Century paintings. There are also displays from their prints collection. As you would expect from the name Frans Hals features prominently. There is one room specifically dedicated to his portraits and company portraits of civic guards. There are other paintings from the 15th to 17th century here too by such artists... More

This museum has lots to offer with regards to beautiful paintings from the golden age era. Last time we visited there was a special on Dutch masters that were temporary on loan from Hungary. The kids got to dress up and do a special tour which they fully enjoyed. Every time there is something else to do so check out... More

We were unfortunately unable to enjoy the museum. Having visited and thoroughly explored 7 galleries and museums in holland with our toddler including all three floors of the Rijks, and Anne Franks, we found Frans Hals incredibly unsuitable and unfriendly. There was things absolutely everywhere that he couldn't touch (which at this age is all he wants to do!), and... More

A great way to spend the afternoon viewing the beautiful works of art. There were so many works in this museum that surprised us.

very nice museum demonstrating the works of Frans Hals. Must see when spending a day in the city of Haarlem. Nicely located in one of the oldest hospitals in The Netherlands.

This museum is easily reached in Haarlem, and provides a comprehensive display of Dutch masters. We were surprised that there was little mention of Frans Hals painting of the 'Laughing Cavalier'.

We tried out this museum without really knowing much about Frans Hals. It turns out that not only is he one of the great 'Dutch Golden Age' artists but also that it is his 350 year celebration. The exhibition therefore contained additional works from the Budapest Szépmüvészeti museum.

The Frans Hals museum is not that big and has beautiful paintings from great artists. It is located in the heart of Haarlem in a picturesque street. It has a nice museum shop and a good cafe. In summer you can sit outside. Of course, it is well known of its old masterpieces. However, many times they have special exhibits... More
