It was closed during my visit, however, the chapel was opened. I took outside pictures of this church, inside pictures of the chapel, and those of the statues near by. Hoping it would be opened before I leave Amsterdam!

In the quiet sanctuary of the Begijnhof courtyard, this building from the 1490s has been used by English speaking worshippers since 1607, except for the WW2 period of German occupation. Including the Pilgrim Fathers who sailed in 1620 on the Mayflower to the New World....More

This lovely old church, built in 1392 is set in the tranquil Beginjhof. It was taken from the Catholic Begijns and given to Amsterdam's English community during the Reformation. It is still the city's Presbyterian church - services and concerts are regularly held here. In...More

This English Reformed Church is located in the small courtyard called the Beginhof. The church is simple but is nicely decorated. While there we could easily photograph the inside and outside without being over-run by tourists. Outside are benches under shade trees. It is worth...More

Actually a pretty old church, and has had an English service dating back to the 1600s and the Dutch uprising against Phillip of Spain. Very welcoming, and faithful teaching. Highly recommended. They will even share some of the history with you.

One of the interesting things you can see at Begijnhof is the English Reformed Church (Engelse Kerk) located across from the Begijnhof Chapel. Church service schedule can be found on the church website, for those interested in attending an English language service. I'm not sure...More

I have visited this church many times - almost every time I've been in the Netherlands. The large multi-national English speaking congregation are very welcoming and live up to their motto "Within these walls let no one be a stranger". The church has a strong...More

It's located just next to Begijnhof, a beautiful garden in the busy Amsterdam down town. The lady at the entrance is very helpful by introducing the history of the church. It's worth going there to enjoy some peace in mind when you're walking in A'dam.

Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of
tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists
and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the
best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe.
Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops
of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones
Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods
such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring
