I come here every now and then for a concert. Having a drink in the foyer with an amazing view before a concert is not something to forget quickly. The main hall is wonderfully designed with a very modern look. If you are in Amsterdam and have the time, it is worth looking to take a quick look inside the beautiful foyer, for free, even if you do not have the time to spare for a concert🌷🌷🌷

I bought tickets ahead to hear the Calefax jazz quintet as advertised as Jazz world music!!
We are jazz fans and were looking forward to discovering the new hall in the north port of Amsterdam.

24€ a person and on Wednesday 28 pm we had to sit to a totally different program: young artists of the year being interviewed at length,in Dutch, and music from medieval times by the Calefax and another strings quarter playing their version of Shostakovich...a modern duo, which was socially rewarding... And "jazz world music"??
We left at the interval, super disappointed.

The new building is huge and freezing: concerte with high ceilings.. not at all welcoming.
If you arrive early, book at the restaurant otherwise unfriendly staff refuses to serve you a drink although there are tables empty and you could go into the hall...
The bar was closed too and it became a cold and unfriendly experience, unfortunately.
We love Amsterdam and Holland, but this was a huge disappointment.

This is an outstanding modern concert hall. The Grote Saal (Big Hall) is an excellent venue for soloists and chamber music. Acoustics are superb. The only problem is that the seats step up only every two rows, so it's much easier to see over tall Dutch people if you are in an even numbered row.

Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ
(English: "Music Building on the IJ")

is the main concert hall for contemporary classical music on the IJ in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The building opened in 2005 and is located above the IJtunnel, a ten-minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal station. The building was designed by Danish architects 3XN. The Bimhuis is part of and partly integrated in the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.

The Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ concert hall seems much less known than the world-famous Concertgebouw but this venue definitely worth visiting for those who are into classical music, particularly modern one. There is a wonderful view of Amsterdam from the glass-walled foyer. They offer free drinks in the intermission (which is also the case in Concertgebouw). The only problem that may be encountered by those who do not speak Dutch is that their site is almost completely in Dutch and buying tickets is a hassle. But once you get through it you will surely enjoy what you hear and see in this modern hall.

A great little adventure taking the fast, free and frequent ferry located behind the Station. Sat outside on the theatre’s outdoor terrace. Good bottle of reasonably priced Chablis and a couple of typically Dutch snacks. It was a lovely warm sunny day with great views across to the city, chilling away from the bustle.

Not so many congresses, including medical congress, which took place in a music concert hall! Although it was the idea of some people in the organising committee, it is the venue that made matters providing unique experience for the attendees. It was just great experience of learning inside a high quality of room acoustic.
The other best point that makes the venue one of the best spots is the big terrace right in front of its foyer. The Amstel river on your view!

Muziekgebouw Aan t'Ij is a wonderful looking music venue that if you visit the Delirium Cafe as we did you cannot fail see.
It's a modern building on the river that looks amazing and although I never took in a concert I most certainly marvelled at the great looking structure.
Easy to locate ,tram number 26 to stop Muziekgebouw Bimhuis drops you off right by this music venue which is found on Piet Heinkade.
Well worth checking out.

Lovely place to visit for a music performance. View over the IJ is great, goog facilities and easy parking (Piet Hein garage). If you visit a concert you can park for 10 euros for 4 hours!! The restaurant is good as well.
