The former Dutch main post office building now houses the Magna Plaza, a shopping centre just a stone's throw from Dam Square. This is a Dutch heritage site and the interior with its galleries and arcades is just as beautiful as the outside. As can be expected, it is full of tourists.

Beautiful architecture of this shopping centre. Mostly clothes, shoes and handbag shops at the mid-price range. Stunning different levels to this centre and also contains a cafe.

Several boutiques and moderately sized store spread over 4 levels inside of a beautiful old building. During our trip in September 2016, it seemed that several storefronts were under renovation or closed. There's no real "high end" shopping here, but a few interesting places to browse.

Well designed and nice building. you can buy almost all the items here under one roof. but always questions on the value versus quality. located near to kings place..Just behind to it. good place to visit. that's all.

Shame you had to pay for the toilet but a very nice shopping mall nonetheless! Could've done with more variety but I think my girlfriend enjoyed it which is the main thing!

When I’m overseas I generally avoid shopping malls, prefering to explore small boutique shops if I want to buy something. But Magna Plaza is worth seeing for its architecture alone. This beautiful building used to be Amsterdam’s main post office, but is now home to some very nice clothing stores, a beautiful cafe and a delicious cheese shop among others.... More

We came across Magna Plaza on accident really but we were glad we did, I am not one who enjoys shopping centres really but the architecture of this building is incredible, the shops inside are ok but it is truly the beauty of this building which makes it worth seeing.

The exterior of this building is imposing and beautiful. But we were expecting something on the scale of Gallerie Lafayette. Most of the shops are brands we were not familiar with, and none of them were doing much business. They had sales personnel at the entrances trying to entice people to come into their stores. Part of the top floor... More

Very imposing building from inside and out just off dam square. 3 floors but not many shops and other than mango and Lacoste no well known brands for visitors. The shops seemed more suited for younger shoppers. A couple of coffee shops but both empty and not inviting. The archeticitrue though is interesting. Not for shoppers though.

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
