Loved the apple pie and the nougat. Truly Impressed with... More

We attended one of the last shows of Coppelia and in a word - fantastic! The Netherlands National Opera and Ballet put on absolutely beautiful and innovative productions lately and every single show that we have attended in the past 2+ years has been nothing short of breathtaking. Do not miss!

Visited with two children (age 16 and 11) to watch Coppelia on New Year's Eve. The ballet was first class with lavish sets and costumes and superb dancing. The venue is great, minimal queues for the loos and everyone could get drinks/snacks during the intervals without too much hassle or queuing. Seats were comfortable and relatively spacious. We were on... More

The experience was unforgettable. Parsifal was directed by Marc Albrecht and designed by Anish Kapoor. It was a sublime experience starting at 1.30 pm and running for five hours to a full house and standing ovations at the end. The opera house is beautiful and was deemed the best opera house of 2016. As good as being at the Met... More

For all ages to enter Christmas with a very merry feeling. For me it is a bit out of what I would normally go to, but enjoyed it very much! A very nice environment and great performance!!

This show was one of the best ballet's I have ever seen! The costumes and set design is so creative you can't dare blink, in fear of missing something! A ballet for those who say they don't like ballet, for children and all ages!

Coppelia is crazy! That's the word for it! Crazy costumes, lovely choreography, beautiful music, but most of all superb dancing. We have enjoyed every minute of the ballet, it has rose to 2nd on my list of favourite ballets (and I have seen many)! We took the kids (10 and 12) and they loved it as well, it is surely... More

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
