Once you step into this beautiful place, its as of you have stepped into a time machine, all the city noises disappear. If i ever visit Amsterdam again, which I'm sure i will, i'll most probably go to this place again.

A beautiful chapel hiding in the middle of the center of Amsterdam. Nonnes still live in this sacred place. The chapel is almost always opened untill 5 or 6pm so you can visit it and light yourself a candle. You can also take a break...More

The begijnhof is only a few steps away from the Spui. This secret garden is situated behind a heavy wooden door, which then brings you to the serene garden where you no longer hear the bustle of the city. The English church is is found...More

Open during certain hours not all days, their beautiful garden and old church one Scottish, one Catholic, very beautiful and moving. Older people live within the squares, and it is neat and meticulous, and cleary a unique community typically Dutch alms houses.

We visit the Begijnhof each time we travel to Amsterdam. There is also a house to tour while you are in the green park area, and benches to rest on and eat if you have a snack. Very peaceful.

The only wooden house still standing in the Begijnhof is on the very left (a sign is on it to mark it). This place where only women were allowed to live is such a quiet place in this rushing city. Also a little chapel where...More

It can take some finding but persevere and you will find this well worth it. It is quite charming once inside and the noise of the city vanishes.

Entering through a door the you are not entirely sure you should open, you come open a beautiful lush, green square and brick homes. On one of my visits, the church was having a service, and the sound of hymns being sung was as I...More

There is not a lot to do here but in a gardenless city this is a small oasis. Beautiful buildings surrounding a common garden area that is home to a female only population.

Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of
tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists
and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the
best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe.
Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops
of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones
Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods
such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring

It's too soon to say exact times for Easter but apparently the High Mass is at 12.15 and is held partly in English. Walking time is approximately 10 minutes from your hotel.
