Well worth looking for and visiting. The chapel has fantastic stain glass and has many photos of the past. Nice quiet place to visit.

We missed this place on our first walk about. It's great to see how it's not changed and you can see how the ladies lived many years ago. Great for 20 minutes of peace!

Very nice hofje! So nice it does get overcrowded sometimes, so I feel sorry for the people who live there.

We enjoyed our stop here. It was not the most exciting stop of our tour, but it was a nice quiet reflective place. Would recommend it to high school age and above.

In the midst of the hustle and bustle of tourists on the street, the Begijnhof offers a quiet respite from the crowds. Beautiful gardens, historical buildings, and 2 chapels to visit make this a must-see location in Amsterdam.

Stopped here based on the descriptions and reviews and it was nice to see the chapel and greenery and sit for a bit. Contrary to some descriptions, it wasn't as quiet as I hoped. There was a loud tour guide but even so, nice to...More

It is worth stopping by the Begijnhof to see the lovely garden and view the houses, including Amsterdam's oldest house.

I was so happy we visited Begijnhof! To visit the 15th century English church, was so peaceful and beautiful -- to learn the history of the Church with the original medieval tower. This area was amazing and interesting. And the Beguines 'sisterhood' -- how wonderful...More

Not apparent from the small entry to the place and well maintained buildings. But if you spend some time in the inner courtyard you will feel the peace inside. More so if you visit the small chappel.

I believe that it is owned by their religious order. and it functions as a retirement facility for older women of that order. I gather they are slowly passing and there are no replacements.

It's too soon to say exact times for Easter but apparently the High Mass is at 12.15 and is held partly in English. Walking time is approximately 10 minutes from your hotel.
