Tucked away just off Spui, this delightful collection of houses arranged around an open court is well worth searching out.

Amsterdam is amazing, always something to be discovered just around the next corner. This quiet courtyard features historic houses that were the home of Catholic women in the Protestant age. Much of the area is off limits but worth some quiet time if you are...More

This is a lovely place with an interesting history to stop in while walking around in Amsterdam, a sharp contrast to the nearby shopping area. Keep in mind that this is a courtyard of people’s homes, not a park, and keep your voices down out...More

Inside the wall is a place of peace and tranquility. Walking inside the passageway gives you a sense of excitement to what awaits you. I was surprised to learn of this place and the history it holds inside. The community is very small so taking...More

To learn history of it and even to sit down. The place is very close to dam square and very different from what you see in rest of Amsterdam (canals, red district, brown cafe, pubs, etc).

The Begijnhof is one of the oldest courtyards (or hofjes as they are called locally) in Amsterdam. This courtyard is surrounded by old homes (including one from 1528) and two churches. This courtyard is the only one in the inner ring of old Amsterdam and...More

I've been a couple of times before but our recent visit had a LOT more people. Maybe because it was a lovely Summer day or maybe the secret is out. Well worth a visit to this oasis in the city!

Amongst the hustle and bustle of busy central Amsterdam is this charming quiet area. Its history as a place of residence for single women in Amsterdam makes it even more surprising.

This little spot in Centrum, deep in the heart of Old Amsterdam, is a total must! A few nuns still live there, and a stroll around the place is a delight. There's a little museum inside one of the buildings where you can learn more...More

Really Nice And quiet place in the city centre. Not only worth the visit based on its history, but also to hear the birds singing and to relax. One of the most memorable catholic places in Amsterdam, especially in a city where catholicism was underpressed...More

Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of
tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists
and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the
best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe.
Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops
of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones
Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods
such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring

I believe that it is owned by their religious order. and it functions as a retirement facility for older women of that order. I gather they are slowly passing and there are no replacements.

It's too soon to say exact times for Easter but apparently the High Mass is at 12.15 and is held partly in English. Walking time is approximately 10 minutes from your hotel.
