A beautiful arena and glamorous coffee bar. Well worth a visit for horse fans. It is possible to have a lesson here if you book in advance, either side saddle or astride.

Me and my partner are passionate horse riders and when we discovered this place in Amsterdam and we were very excited to visit! I messaged on Facebook about booking a lesson as my partner wanted to learn side saddle which they advertised. I was sent a reply saying to Email. So I emailed twice and got no responces. We arrived... More

Tucked away just of the Vondelpark is the oldest equestrian centre in Amsterdam. Great to go and visit and have a coffee or tea from the friendly staff. The architecture is only stunning in this timeless piece of history with beautiful equines. It is signposted..... but you won't believe it until you nearly pass the door... nestled away in the... Another great hidden gem in Amsterdam. Between the Overtoom and Vondelpark sits the oldest city stable in Europe. It's an indoor horse riding school housed in a beautiful building with huge riding arena and stables. But it's an interesting place for visitors for several reasons: a small museum with equestrian related art & artifacts; you are able to wander around... More

Having a horse mad wife this is the first place we visited. She enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching the children have their lesson while drinking our complimentary tea. The building harkens back to opulent beginnings but is slowly mouldering away. This does give it a wonderful patina and I think any little girl would be absolutely delighted to... More

On arrival we were warned that most of the horses were on Summer holiday and the entry was therfore discounted and included a tea or coffee. As a horse owner myself I really enjoyed seeing the traditional lay out and how it contrasts to modern yards. We didn't see anyone working the horses as we came over lunchtime. The upstairs... More

I had a big smile on my face the whole time I was there. Took me back to my childhood when I had a pony. Loved the stables and the venue and watching the rider training.

Our guidebook had raved about this place claiming it provided a unique opportunity to watch skilled horsemanship from an elegant cafe...... the smell of fresh hay confirmed we were in the right place...but we had to search for any horses ( found in their stalls). The only actual moving horse we saw was being led out of the arena. Nobody... More

Lonely Planet describes this place as an Amsterdam treasure and writes that entry is free. We paid 8 euros each and, during the next 45 minutes and a search of the establishment, we had seen but one girl leading one horse in circles. When we inquired where we might find the horse related action the owners happened to be passing... More

This building was saved by the locals in this area as it was due to be bulldozered. You can get a real sense of what this place must have been like when Mozart played here back in the day. It is a bit grubby in places but it is obvious it will take a bit of cash to return it... More
