About
Go on a interactive journey at The Heineken Experience at Heineken's oldest brewery. The tour is mostly self-guided, with guides at certain key points. Here, you can learn about the history, gain insight into the brewing process, and customise your own Heineken bottle or glass at the souvenir shop. At the end of the tour, enjoy two Heinekens, and even get the chance to pour your own draught. – Tripadvisor

Address
Neighbourhood: De Pijp
Bustling Albert Cuypstraat serves as the main drag through De Pijp and the location for Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and most famous of Amsterdam’s many outdoor markets. Beyond this sometimes-frantic thoroughfare, tiny lanes beckon urban explorers in search of the latest trends and hidden gems. Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students. Here you'll find a multitude of ethnic restaurants, great cafes and bars, and a brilliant array of locally owned shops, all catering to a broad range of budgets and tastes.

    Incredible interactive beer tour!
At first we thought it was like all the other beer tours but it is NOT! It’s terrific. You learn all about Heineken’s history and how they’ve left a mark on not only Amsterdam but the world. All the interactive areas made learning about beer simply incredible. Thank you Heineken!

    Underwhelming
Was very very overcrowded when we went and the first few rooms are very small and hard to read anything or manoeuvre past anyone. Felt more like an ad experience than a brewery tour after the first floor. Although they try their best to make it fun and interactive with some parts it just wasn’t and felt forced. Drinks during and after are decent and saves the experience overall.

Save Your Money and Go to a Pub!
We booked tickets online (€25 per adult) for a Friday date/time in late April 2023. What we didn’t realize is that there is no beer actually brewed at this facility. We found the tour and interactive activities a bit childish. The rooftop was OK (before it started to rain) and I got to drink a cocktail made with beer and passion fruit, which was not half bad. But we would not recommend it. Instead, take your money and go to a local bar and have a few Heinekens!!

    Brewery trip
Didn’t need to book and paid on the day. Good tour of the old brewery and history of Heineken. Interactive tour with plenty to do. Two and a half beers included and you can bottle your own labelled beer. Good gift shop at end of tour for gifts. Worth a visit.

Worth a visit if you have an interest in Heineken
This is a really great and interactive experience. You also get two free drinks at the end which is great. However, If you don’t like beer and are not really interested in the background of Heineken I would not recommend as the tickets are quite expensive.

    Informative and fun
Enjoyed our tour of the Heineken brewery. Could go at our own pace. Fun interactive parts. The day we went was extremely hot and parts of the experience were too hot. No air conditioning and enclosure spaces. Good value as includes beers and a choice of alcohol free beer. The music in the bar was a bit loud for us oldies.

    No baby!
First, Babies are NOT allowed, even in a carrier, as many of the reviews suggested. I’m sure it’s a nice tour, but we weren’t permitted in as we had our 5 month old baby with us. The staff was very nice and apologized many times. I don’t drink, but my husband does and thought it would be cool to see this with him.

Skip the “tour”, visit the rooftop
The reason to go to the Heineken experience if you are not a 20-35 male is to enjoy the rooftop view. Otherwise, it’s not really a tour, the experience at the end of the “self-guided tour” is like a Friday night bar at university… long lines, pounding music, sticky floors… just not enjoyable in the least. My recommendation is to skip all that and go directly to the rooftop.

A MUST DO THING in Amsterdam
For 18 yrs above and non-muslim visitors, this is a MUST DO THING during your visiting in Amsterdam. You may want to book/ purchase your ticket online to avoid long queue at the counter (the peaks are usually in the afternoon). Some ticket package come with the canal cruise tour which much affordable than a single trip. Should you opt for both in the package do note that give yourself a gap of 1-2 hours between the Heineken Experience and canal cruise tour as you don't want to miss the boat schedule while enjoying your chilled beers at the end of the Heineken Experience's bar.

    Excellent Amsterdam Beer Experience
Heineken fan or not, we highly recommend doing this. And we definitely recommend booking the VIP experience. It included a small group tour, private tasting and a gift! You also get a few samples at the end of the VIP tour experience at the larger sampling bar. We had an outstanding time, got to dry several beers (including some not widely available brews), made new friends, and learned about the brewery and its beer.

Too many people in our group and it felt rushed, we waited for the viewing experience for half an hour and when we were next there was a group of kids that were let in in front of us. Because of that the atmosphere felt forced and the poor guide had to make it up by playing games.

Felt compelled to come and review this here, as Google reviews has suspended any negative ones, which gives a false impression to potential visitors.
First of all the big positive are the staff working there. They are all really entertaining and brought my rating up by 1 star!

If you are expecting more of a brewery tour then don't get your hopes up, this really is an 'experience' and not that great of one either. Perhaps having visited the likes of Budweiser in the USA (i am English) i was hoping for something similar. But this is the former brewery which no longer makes beer, but has a few original features.

Towards the end there is an interactive part where you go on a journey as beer, from creation to events like football, parties, etc. I had high hopes for this as you are warned not to enter if you have medical conditions such as high blood pressure. As someone who has this condition i am pleased to say i risked it and if anything it helped lower it!

Finally you enter the bar area. All i can say was it was like entering a dodgy nightclub in my teenage years. Dimly lit, loud music, virtually no tables or chairs and the stickiest floor I've walked on in years!

We tagged on the rooftop bar, but other than the views the bar was similar to the other, although you can get cocktails made with beer here (if you really want to).

As others have said, if you're pulled in by the free beers, maybe just spend the money you would have here in a nice canal side bar.

It was ok, but expensive for what it was. The tour was over with quickly! Highlight was getting x2 small beers. The boat tour was also very uneventful and boring. Not worth the money at all.

This was one of the things everyone was looking forward to. It was my first time and everyone else had been there at least twice before. By the end everyone was disappointed. There were no more tours, everything was self guided which caused several issues. Which was also odd because the tickets were timed for apparently no reason. The only times where we interacted with staff was after a constant experience so the whole thing was rushed. (Example, a staff member showing us how to toast with beer after the “Beer you Ride” it was clear they had to get through a script but by the time they were done you had to down the beer and run to the next room to make room for the people coming in from the ride). Then at the end of it all, you end up in a tiny room with way too many people each trying to get their two beers while maneuvering their way through a crowd of people and trying to lift their feet of the sticky unclear floor. Most people left before they had their second beer because it was simply not worth it. All in all, their timing is significantly off, they have made improvements on everything except what they really needed to improve upon, and the only take away we got from it is that beer is made from water, hops, barley, and yeast and that Heineken views their beer as gold and not yellow. Honestly if you enjoy Heineken you are better served spending your money on the beer and drinking it on the canal than going through this experience.

This is a gimmicky, pointless experience. You are much better off buying yourself a Heineken in a lovely canal-side bar. There is hardly any history or information on the brewing process, or how Heineken was part of the social history of the city. Something like the Guinness factory tour in Dublin is much better at informing and entertaining.

Here, there's a very brief explanation of what makes Heineken, then a "ride" where you stand on something that vibrates and lots of graphics and bright lights flash at you for a while. And then you get two free small beers to drink in a sticky-floored room that feels like it's underground and could be anywhere.

The view from the roof terrace is nice (of course, you have to pay extra for this), but the Heineken cocktails they serve up there are terrible.

We will be telling people to avoid this unless they are a stag or hen do that has recently visited one of Amsterdam's famous coffee shops, as I feel like that is the market they're aiming for.

From beginning to end, we were treated like VIPs. Our tour guide Jenni (may be spelled incorrectly) was personable, informative and fun! So glad we chose the VIP Tour. It was worth the extra cost.

Tips: arrive promptly, take photos, enjoy the multiple tastings and don’t forget to ask your guide about the red bottle and the story of the “e” on the Heineken bottle!

Different than I expected - less museum more “experience” but really neat. Plus 2.5 beers included. We added on the Canal tour (no beers included) and that was also good

Have you ever been interested in the story of The Heineken Brewery?

Well on your visit to Amsterdam you can have all those questions answered by taking the Heineken Experience! Tour the facility, learn the best way to enjoy the beer as well as the brewing process. The cost is 23.00 euro, and this includes your tour and three drinks (beer or soft drinks) at the Heineken Bar.

Make sure you purchase your tickets using tours-tickets.com for the best price! Enjoy

Was looking forward to this but it was a heat disappointment. Very basic and rushed tour of the history, no proper demonstration of how it all works, chaotic once you get to the “stills” hall…the guide just disappears?….. it’s then down to some pretty poor digital experiences, no explanation about the zero alcohol product . So called free beers but actually not as the entry price covers them and as for the rooftop, unless you are wanting to throw yourself off, don’t bother!

Came here for my partner's birthday and I wasn't expecting to enjoy it so much as I'm not personally interested in beer, however it was fantastic for those who do find it interesting to learn about the history. However my favourite part was the "ride" and lights it was super cool. You get 2 tokens and a another free beer so a total of 3 each so great value for money and a fun experience.
