Big dog toilet
Jun 2021 • Family
Utterly ruined by the sheer volume of dog poop.

It would be a beautiful place to spend the day with the family but it's just a dog toilet. It's hard to understand why Dutch dog owners are happy with this or why there are no laws stopping it from happening.

It would be a beautiful place, filled with views and birds, but I was too concerned about the kids walking through poop to really enjoy it.

Nice to be out of the city
Jul 2020
This park is between Amsterdam and the Airport. It is nice to cycle or walk around, but if you really like nature, it is beter to go to the dunes along the coast or the Veluwe.

To my full surprise, I biked into this forest right outside Amsterdam. Amazing how close to urban Amsterdam I dropped into this forest. Fairly large surface, constructed about a century ago with inspiration from Versailles, Schönbrun and other famous places in Europe.

Amazing

I took some truffles and wandered around this place at night. Really trippy place! I remember there being sand, then a lake, then woodchip under my feet. It is an artificial forest so its beautiful but designed.

A great place for a walk or a jog
Jan 2020
This is on the outskirts of Amsterdam. There is a large "de Poel" in the centre of it. There are walking and jogging tracks around the pool of water. The massive size of the pool is fascinating. The sight of the church at the corner of the pool makes for a great landscape.

Watch the video of "De Poel" in the channel listed in my profile!

The Best Place to Bicycle In (ok, near) Amsterdam
Aug 2019
If the idea of cycling in Amsterdam terrifies you (and it probably should), come here. We had a lovely breakfast in the park and rented bikes for two adults five children with ease. From there we rode to a pool for wading, a lake for canoeing, a herd of highland cattle for viewing (at a safe distance) and a wonderful pancake house for -- what else? pancakes :-). On an extended visit to Amsterdam, it was a wonderful escape from the city for a day.

Hairy cows!!
Dec 2019 • Couples
We stayed at the Renaissance Marriott by the airport for our last day and the park is right next door. It is beautiful. Horse trails, walking trails and nice benches. There is a part in the South west that has a group of the hairy cows (Scottish?) that roam and came right up to us! We loved this park, it was a nice wind down before we left to go home.

Nature in the city
Oct 2019
This is a great place for a run. Our hotel was only about 1.5 miles from the park. The forest has both paved and unpaved trails. There are many water features. The park is large enough that you feel as if you have left the city.
