I had a wonderful time on this tour. The weather was so so but it did not make a difference. Our guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. I am an expert on the subject matter and was still able to learn more and get to see many amazing and specific sites that general tours would not cover. My two friends... More

Visiting the Arnhem battlefield with Murk was a terrific experience, brought to life and made all the more moving by Murk's deep knowledge of operation Market Garden. Assisted by numerous maps and veterans' stories, Murk gave me a detailed picture of the battle at different sites around Arnhem, and in ways that i could never have experienced on my own.... More

We really enjoyed our day with Murk. He picked us up at our hotel , and we spent the day traveling along "Hell's Highway" learning all about the American paratroopers, the Dutch resistance and the experience and contributions of both the American soldiers and the Dutch people. We stopped for lunch and saw many famous spots. He is an excellent... More

We travelled as a group of four to visit some of the sites of Market Garden with an interest in Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Regiment. Murk knowledge on every aspect of the events at that time was outstanding. More especially, his delivery of the information was captivating throughout a long day. Our interest in what he had to... Want to step back into the past and have it come alive right before you? I highly recommend doing a history tour with Murk Dijkstra. We did the full day Market Garden tour and it was worth every minute, every detail. Murk knows his stuff and can soak you in details and sights and bring them back to life. My... More

I was fortunate to find History Trips and Murk for the last day of a month in Europe. After being in Poland, Germany then Amsterdam this was an amazing, insightful, emotional and inspiring day tour that examined Operation Market Garden. I have a passion for military history and battles and as a history teacher was so excited to be learning... More

My father and I had a fabulous few hours with the very knowledgeable and quirky Murk. Murk's passion for the history of the area is very obvious, and we learnt alot about the history of the area, about the buildings, the hofjes, the people of the day, and how the war affected this area of Amsterdam. Highly recommend this tour... More

Excellent day tour which gave an incredible insight in the battle. Murk is an excellent guide, very knowledgeable who not only gave a great overview of the whole operation but added lots of small anecdotes which made it all come more alive. In that respect Murk is a bit the Antony Beevor of the tour guides! Highly recommended tour!
